I assume that you want to connect the new laptop wirelessly to the router. if so, all you need to do is connect the new laptop to the wireless signal of your your router.
follow the steps below if you don't know your router's wireless settings.

- access the router's setup page by typing http://192.168.1.1 (which is the default ip address of the routre), then you will be prompted with a log in screen. leave the username blank and type "admin" on the password filed
- you will now be prompted with a linksys screen. if you are using the latest firmware of the router, there would be a "wireless" tab, click on that tab and it'll show you the wireless settings (i.e. ssid, wireless channel etc) and under the "wireless" tab is a subtab that'll say "wireless security" and it'll provide you your wireless password if you have enabled one. but if you are using the old firmware, the wireless settings would be located on the middle part of the setup tab
- if you have all the wireless settings needed, you just need to connect your laptop using those settings. you just need to make sure that the wireless capability of your laptop is enabled

hope this'll help you but if you still encounters any problem just ask me and kindly provide the wireless adapter being used and the OS of your laptop.

ciao!

How to connect internet

SETTING UP A BROADBAND CONNECTION
First you need to decide what type of broadband and Internet service you require and these are -
1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line.
2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service.
3. A wireless 3G network uses the mobile/cell phone network and can be separate or combine with your cell phone account. This type of Internet connection uses an USB wireless device shaped like an USB memory stick.
Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include a modem/wireless router.

If you use a wireless router with the DSL or Cable Internet service then your laptop with a wireless card can then connect to the Internet. You can also connect to a free WiFi hot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc. using the wireless card in your laptop.
If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access the Internet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to check the service coverage area where you need Internet service.
Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to check with the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and the cost of the various plans.
Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed the monthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installation CD.

How many ip camera can this device handle? i already have 4 existing and it works just fine. How is it if I add 4 more ip camera? Is it going to work well?

Hi,
D-Link DIR-615 is a Wireless N 300 Router, which delivers great performance, network security and coverage, etc. I have deployed a similar D-Link Router for about 10 Wired and wireless client PCs in a network for file, print and internet sharing and it performed without any issues. So, I think, you can add additional IP cameras and it should work fine.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Trying a add another desk top to an existing Belkin wireless G router at home. Right now there's a desk top and laptop working off this router.Try several times and still can't connect to internet.

Make sure the Belkin wireless is the only device directly connecting to your internet service provider's router/modem. Usually that port is labelled "WAN" or even "Internet". The Belkin should have extra ports/jacks for WIRED connections, right? You then connect the PC into the other remaining ports/jacks on the Belkin (if they're wired) or just use the wireless for the laptop if the laptop has wireless. After getting the wireless going, though, you should lock it down by using WPA encryption key if possible.

Adding a wireless connection to an existing wired network

Go out to you local electronics store and purchase a wireless router , or Wireless Access Point (AP) , this way you will create a wireless connection by following the instructions given when you purchase the Wireless AP .

Basically when you buy the Wireless router or AP you just need to plug your existing Modem/Router into the WAN port on the Wireless Router / AP and then some initial setup to configure the wireless settings and then the appropriate settings inputted on your PC.

Linking wrt54g with actiontec m1424wr

You need to check the ip address of your actiontec router, the default ip address of linksys router is 192.168.1.1, they should not be the same or else you will not able to connect the router to the internet.

To access the router web configuration
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3676&p_sid=fvzPHEYi&p_lva=3687#

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1166859837401&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=3740145678B574

Let me also give you the site on how to add the linksys router to another existing router.

The linksys has 4 LAN port and 1 "Internet" port on the back - we ONLY use the LAN ports NEVER the Internet port - because your existing router is connected to the Internet - your linksys is connected to the LAN
