When you press F10 to enter the set up nothing happens, is that correct, and what does the beep sound like? Also, does it beep if you don't press anything, and after the initial screen with the F10 message, what does it do?

My hp laptop is blank screen when turned on

This sort of problems happens some times due to the collection of static electricity in the motherboard. to solve this you have to :-
1) shut down the laptop
2) take out the power adaptor
3) take out the battery
4) press out the power button for one minute.
5) put in the battery and the adaptor and try to switch it on.
if it doesnt work switch on the laptop and as soon as it is on tap the F10 button repeatedly. you will enter the bios screen press F9 to set it default. then press F10 to exit.. You will have to use the four arrow keys to select the options and enter to choose it.

My hp laptop cannot enter window 7. My case is i forgot to uninstall Norton anti-virus and i straight install "kaspersky trier". Then my laptop hang and i restart my laptop. Now, i cannot enter...

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer
Also you might try
Turn Off the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10 key,ie: Alt+F10, it will open the recovery console ,select full factory restore and follow on screen instruction. (Note:this will erase all datas on the computer)

Hp g5000 sreen does not light up as usal, i can see a the start up when i shine a torch at the sreen, what do i need to do to get working.

An LCD screen cannot produce enough light by itself. It needs an additional source of light.
A Backlight is used as the additional light source.

A Backlight is a CCFL.
Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to the Fluorescent lighting used in homes and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale.

The LCD screen is a composite of layers, surrounded by a thin metal frame that resembles a picture frame.
To one side of the LCD screen layers, and under the frame is usually where the Backlight is mounted.
[Note* Two Backlights are used in some models]

Replacing a Backlight is more labor intensive than replacing an Inverter.
Due to this, and the cost, the LCD screen itself is replaced as a unit most of the time, when it comes to Backlight replacement.

Example of a replacement LCD screen for the HP G5000 series of Notebook PC's,

[Note* Stating HP G5000 is just stating the model series. When buying replacement parts the EXACT Model Number should be used. This information is located on the bottom of the laptop, in a white Service Tag.

When replacing an LCD screen, the model number of the replacement LCD screen should be matched to the existing LCD screen's Model Number.
Inverters and LCD screens are matched together. Make sure you get the correct part]

An Inverter is used to provide power from the laptop to the LCD screen, and to the Backlight.

Note* 90 Percent of the time the problem is a bad Inverter.

Example of an Inverter for an HP G5000 series notebook PC,

The LCD screen, Top Cover, Display Bezel, Inverter, Backlight, and various screws, make up the Display Assembly.
The Display Bezel made of plastic surrounding the LCD screen, and in front of the LCD screen is removable.
Behind it is easy access to the Inverter.

The Inverter is approximately 4 inches long, and the width of a No.1 pencil.
Usually located at the bottom of the LCD screen, and right behind the Bezel.

This article shows replacing an Inverter and LCD screen on a Compaq Presario v2000 series Notebook PC,

This pictorial guide is not for the HP G5000 series Notebook PC, but the models are very similar when it comes to Inverter replacement.
The above link is to show you what is involved.

I have an HP DV5215 laptop. the problem right now is i can't use the power button but i can still use quickplay and dvd button. i tried to open up the laptop following the instruction posted in this...

sure tell more, tell what it does, fully.
a 12 year old PC from the year 2005., do you expect the coin cell to last 2 time normal, (carbon dating this PC tells me that)
CMOS coin CELL RTC battery (tiny) read page see image below.
HP dropped DV support a while back, but i have manuals below.

you said the power button is dead, but there is more to tell.
first remove the big battery in the bottom, take it out and leave it out, (they like go short and overload the power bus) its out now.

1: you push the button power, and the fan runs, does it? it must.
or it will overheat fast, is the fan packed in lint?
and what does the screen do. text wise.
good the DVD eject button works tell me there is power there.
if the screen is always dead say that. please. per F10 below.

here is a free manual.. free to download, no tricks. there.
dv5000 series
I do not know how quick play works at all, sorry.
but for now Ill ignore that and focus on the PC part and your unstated windows vesion.
do the HP power on reset method yet>
all big batteries out, then AC pack removed. then hold power 10 to 30 seconds this is hard reset, (just for power, sleep, hibernate an and more) work now, good. not
3: the screen must glow , the BIOS key must all work now.
the magic key is F10, (the text to do that was on your screen for 12 long years, and if seen now still the screen is ok, and F10 works. if the screen is dead say so,
page 122 in your manual states

"Press f10 while the "Press <F10> to enter Setup" message is displayed in the lower-left corner
of the screen"
it must, or the screen is dead or the RTC coin cell died.
service , rtc here.

rtc= real time clock (and BIOS memory.,NVRAM)
when dead the BIOS goes nuts and so does the RTC

i think this is the WiFi mini card, below. rtc under it.
rtc-zwri4sfoeuye0gkktrhgwxo1-4-0.jpg i think any DV5000 series manual seen covers all this.
RTC and power reset and how to get to BIOS F10

bet bios working first then when that works
hit F11 key is the HP windows recovery key.
if your data is backed up, this puts the PC back to day1, new.
zero data personsal
if the F11 key fails say so, but will not if the HDD is still good
and not corrputed using microsoft install disks on this PC.

I got this really old HP Pavillion ZD7260us Laptop a friend left it to me with no HDD and no memory. So i went to buy a DDR PC270 512mb SO DIMM memory and an 80gig IDE Hard Drive. So i tried to install it...

try plugging a standard pc keyboard into the ps2 slot ,if it has one, if not use a usb keyboard. That should tell you if the keyboard is malfunctioning. As for using the hard drive with no caddy it should be fine as long as you pad it it securely, to stop it being knocked about etc when moving the laptop. Also you will need to enter the bios and set ideo 0(the hard drive) to auto detect. As it is more than likely detecting the old hard drive in the bios settings not the new one?

I cant open windows it stops at the microsoft bar

Ok, you should have a recovery program that will sort this out.

If you have a recovery CD, just insert it as soon as you turn it on, and it will then boot from the CD. Just follow the on screen instructions.

If you don't have a recovery CD, you may have a recovery partition on your hard drive. For this you need to enter your BIOS/settings screen. When you turn on the laptop, keep pressing F2. If this doesn't work, and Windows tries to load, switch it off, and try again by pressing Del.

When you are looking at the BIOS screen, you should have along the top, some page options (Something like, Information, Main, Security, Boot and Exit). Using the arrows on the keyboard, move over to Main. Now, somewhere on the screen should be something called D2D Recovery, or something similar. Highlight it and make sure it's Enabled. Also, when you highlight it, on the right habd side of the screen it will list Item Specific Help, and this will tell you what keys you need to press, this is normally Alt + F10. Now move over to exit and select Exit Saving Changes. This will then restart the laptop. As soon as it restarts, keep pressing the keys that it listed on the BIOS screen. Follow the on screen instructions.

Hope this helps.

Upper and lower filters need cleaned out in the registry, you can either call hp and have them walk you through it or use this link (it can be caused by itunes but theres other causes) if that fails it might be a defective drive. hope this helps you out!
