Question about Maytag EPIC MFW9700S Front Load Washer

Maytag Epic Washer high spin shaking, AND high-pitched sound coming out of washer

We just got our washer delivered yesterday, I washed the first load of clothes, and it seems like the spinning drum inside is off-balance (the washer was NOT overloaded), it was a normal size load...and on the high-spin cycle, the machine vibrated and shaked and made a clink-clink-clink sound during high spin, also when I was done washing clothes, turned machine off, and there is this high-pitched sound coming out of the washing machine, it's some electrical sound, we unplugged it, and the sound went away, but it's a very annoying high-pitched sound! I think for what we payed for this washer, we shouldn't settle for these problems, I called Maytag, and the lady on the phone was an idiot, and we have the 5-year warranty on it, and also Lowes says they will replace the appliance within 7 days if defected, well this sounds defected to me. especially after spending over $900 on it, I think I should expect it to work properly! does anyone have any ideas what this problem could be? thanks for your time and help!

Thanks for the input, but yes, the shipping bolts were removed. I actually called Lowes and they are going to get back to me, and probably swap it out for a new one, it says on the reciept, they will replace any appliance within 7 days of delivery if it has a defect. It shouldn't be making a clinking sound when spinning, and there was nothing in there with zippers, it was actually more like a clunking sound than clinking. and ya, the constant high-pitched sound coming out of the machine when turned off, that's not right. Thanks for your help.

ya, actually they had the delivery driver manager come out and listen to a load run through, and he said run it through a few more loads and if those sounds are still there call back, because you need to be 100% happy with the product, he was very nice. but ironically, the high-pitched sound has gone away, and also the vibration and shaking of the machine has gone away, but now it's making a rattling sound on final high-spin. but the guy moved the machine over a little, and I think that the 1st delivery guy didn't put the machine in the right spot, mabye when he moved it over a little, he made it set on a better board support under the floor and made it more balanced. that high-pitched sound could have been a sensor sensing something was off-balance, that's my best guess.

When someone reports severe vibration during spin on a brand new washer, the first question always has to be whether the transit brackets have been left in.

Washers are designed so that the drum and motor float on a collection of springs and shock absorbers. To prevent damage to these during shipping, a set of brackets is used to bolt the floating assembly to the case. If these aren't removed before first use (the manual will say how to do it) havoc ensues.

The irritating whine is a new one on me.

Sounds like the right way to go.

With a new machine, trying investigations/repairs that aren't in the user manual just gives the vendor an excuse to dodge his warranty obligations.

    Good luck with the replacement.
