  • thoroughly clean out the freezer and pour some hot water in the very back of the freezer, this may unclog it. usually the clog is caused by an ice buildup.
  • personally i would take the machine outside and blast it with a hose, but thats just me. if you do this go ahead and do a thorough cleaning including the coils under the machine.
  • warm/hot water with a little bleach and dish soap (as a surfactant) mixed in works wonders when cleaning refrigerators outside.

I have a GE GSC23LSQA SS ice builds up on bottom of freezer and leaks? What is the cause

hi,

Clogged drain in freezer, this needs to be clear and open all the time. Sometimes the clog is behind the unit in the "s" curve of the drain hose near the compressor. Good Luck

Whole bottom is a thick sheet of ice and it is leaking out the door

You have a defrost drain that is clogged. You will need to get rid of the ice and then locate the drain and clean out the drain and drain hose.Should be able to see it once you get the ice out.

My GE side by side refrigerator is leaving a puddle on the floor in the morning. There is also a frozen puddle on the bottom of the freezer. What might be wrong?

You will need to remove the bottom freezer crisper and check the defrost drain , to see if it is iced over . If so , then use a hairdryer to melt the ice ( hot water also helps ) . When you see the drain , ( could be obvious obstruction from plastic ) , use a small hose inserted into the hole , to blow thru , to remove any unseen debris blockage .
You may have to remove the rear inside freezer panel to access this drain , depending on your model number .

I have a GE TBX25PAXCRWW top mount freezer model. It is leaking water from the light switch. I would assume it is a blocked evap line. Do I access it from the insde of the freezer or outside.

Your problem is a clogged defrost drain . This is accessed from inside the freezer section and by removeing the rear freezer panel . Use a hairdryer to defrost the pan , under the coils . Also , the drain line for your model , is located behind the refrig . So , you only have a short area between the drain hole and drain line , to clear . I would suggest blowing thru the drain hose behind the refrig also , to make sure it is clear .

Dishwasher won't drain

Check the following areas to combat this issue.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer/control
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
