Hello, I have a 53-inch Panasonic PT-53WX42F TV, and it refuses to turn on. No picture, no sound. All it does is the tiny red power light blinks 3 times repeatedly. Can I fix this myself? What parts do I...

Thats a convergence failure when the led blinks 3 times. Your model uses the PT47WX42 convergence repair kit available from www.tvrepairworld.com the kit contains the parts and the CD with instructions for the repair.

Panasonic PT-53WX42 53 in. Rear Projection Television turns on and then shuts off and then a red light starts to flash. Any help would be appreciated.

Most of these Panasonic sets have a error code---unplug the set for a minute----plug it back in and turn it on---does the red power light blink in a sequence---3 blinks, a pause and three blinks?

If it is 3,3 that is short protection and usually means one of the two convergence chips is bad.

Let me know what you find and I will be happy to help.

Thats the error code for the convergence circuit. Heres a link to the repair kit for that model which contains the parts and step by step instructions with pictures on how to do the repair.

Power on for 5 seconds; can hear the sound; then power off; power light flashes

A 440.00 bill is not unusual for your repair, however, I would ask

some questions-- Why 40. for tax?? On what parts?? What are

the part numbers??  How much for a written estimate?? What

is the warranty?? Otherwise, pursue your solution on FIXYA.
