The disposer when on gives a stuck sound and the blades are not turning. I cleaned the blade area and also pressed the red button. Couple of times it strated briefly and then it went back to the stuck sound with the blades not turning.

My unit was not spinning, seemed like no power after it would just sit there and make that humming noise. Used the wrench to loosen up (if any) debris. I didn't realize the little red reset switch on the bottom was not popping out all the way. After the wrench, I then depressed the red button and it worked fine. I would check to make sure your switch is out all the way before trying other solutions.

If you can turn the disposal by hand with the allen wrench and you press the button and it still won't work try checking the house fuse or circuit breaker. If you have power at the disposal and all of these things fail just buy another disposal. (usually under $100) Buy the same brand and you won't even have to replace the fitting in the sink If you buy the same HP the plumbing won't even have to be changed. In sink erator makes Emerson, some Kitchen aid, some Whirlpools and most Sears Kenmore disposals. You should be able to look and tell if it is the same size. It is cheaper to replace than call for service. With the same brand it won't take more than 20 min to install. Read the instructions you'll see how easy it is. (if your dishwasher drains through the disposal make sure you remove the knockout plug before installing the disposal.)

I had a same problem, and was ready to go to HD for new one. But I found what is wrong. My unit doesn't have external switch under the sink you need to turn on. Switch is in the hole where all dirt goes, so you turn there something, and your unit is on. On the outside of the unit, under the sink, there is a small box. In that box there is a micro switch, so when you turn it a level above the sink, you actually press this micro switch and your unit is on. In my case, micro switch was on, but small piece of plastic that hold this switch, was broken, so when I turn the level over the sink, I move whole body of the switch instead only a level of the switch. I fixed it by gluing this switch carrier (plastic part) which holds the switch. For gluing I used superglue (industrial type). Hope it will works. Otherwise, I would use something else to hold it tight to the body of the aerator.

Hope this helps.

Mine has a different problem. The erator works. But there is a hole outside the erator, as if it is eroded. When I touch it, crumbs fall.

What is this problem? Shall I use something to seal it?

My garbage disposal got plugged up then my dishwasher backed up and will not drain how do i fix this and are the two things related?

The disposal has a port that connects to the dishwasher. If the disposal clogs, the dishwasher cannot drain. There should be a 5/16 hex hole in the center of the underside
of the disposal to use a "wrenchette" disposal wrench to free the disposal. Or just use a
5/16 allen wrench. After freeing unit up, push the red square reset button on the bottom of the disposal. It should now work at the switch.

On some smaller disposals you may need a "universal"
disposal wrench that works from the top of the disposal. The reset is still located on
the bottom of the unit though. They cost around 10 dollars at the home improvement
store. Hope this is helpful.

The dishwasher is not draining properly and there seems to be lots of suds although the detergent packet was not used during the normal washing cycle.

If your dishwasher is connected to a garbage disposal and not used frequently and you
hand wash dishes on the disposal side, the soap that is used for hand washing dishes
accumulates in the dishwasher when you pull the stopper. This soap sudses excessively in
the dishwasher when it is run. This happens quite frequently in the apartments I service.
I have to put in several pans of water and turn the timer till it pumps out several times.

Also, make sure the disposal is working properly or the dishwasher will not drain and dish
water will back up into the dishwasher. There is usually a 5/16 allen socket to free
the disposal located under it in the very center of the disposal as well as a small red sqare
reset button once the unit is freed up. Make sure switch is off at wall before attempting
hope this helps.

Garbage disposal does not even make a noise I pressed the red reset switch, how do I turn the blades inside to see if they are stuck? Is the allen wrench place on the bottom in the middle? if so which...

The allen wrench set is underneath in the middle. Turn it clockwise. Also, make sure your circuit breaker did not throw. It should be located in your main circuit breaker box. Some places put a switch under the counter for the disposal. Check that as well.

is the disposal working? if it isn't turning then find an alan wrench and turn it by hand there is a place to do that on the very bottom of the disposal in the center. the disposal should work after that and unclog the sink.

Garbage disposal (water won't drain out of sink standing water)

There should be an overload button somewhere on the bottom of the disposal motor. This is to prevent the motor from trying to run if the chopping blades are jammed, otherwise the motor would burn up.

First, try to move the blades with something like a broom handle. Using a flashlight you should be able to see the blades. there's probably three of them. try to make sure each one can move even a little bit.

Next, with the disposal switch in the off position, find the overload button and push it in, Then turn on the disposal switch and see if it runs. If the overload button trips off again, repeat the above steps until the blades can turn.

Let me know how this goes. Loringh

In Sink Erator Classic Supreme with sensor problem

I would assume that in the last year you've either fixed the washer or have gotten a new one. If your curious, this is probably the solution. There's a plastic piece that pushed a button when you open the latch and resets the washer. The piece is probably broken. If you remove the screws on the top of the door, you can reach in and manually push the button. You can also tape some metal into the end of the plastic piece so it will still push the button. A flattened bottle cap will work.

Kenmore garbage disposal

Most Kenmore garbage disposals are made by In sink erator. There should be a hex wrench hanging under the sink. This fits into the hole in the bottom. this allows you to turn it by hand to free the jam. Go to Home Depot or something like it and buy one. If this is another brand take a broom stick and stick it in and try to turn the grinder plate. When you get it to turn freely. reach in and see if you can feel anything. Remove if present. Once the grinder plat turns freely it should start. (Use reset button if needed)

Water is not completely draining

Did you take out the "knock out" plug, off the new sink disposal, before you hooked the drain hose from the dishwasher to it?
