The spots are caused by errors in the eeprom affecting the optical engine data. The fix is easy but it will have to be done by an authorized Panasonic shop. Call your toll free customer line at panasonic to find out, but I'm sure the repair should be covered under warranty regardless of the age of the unit. Thx
The price sounds very reasonable, the fix can be done by someone who knows how to solder. It is fairly simple but should only be attempted by someone who can solder and knows what is dangerous such as the capacitors. The tv should be unplugged overnight to give time to discharge and to fix it, simply cut off the old soldered connections and solder the new pieces back on.
let me know if you have any further questions.
If you don't know how to solder, then having the repairman do it wouldn't be a bad idea, but you could also see what someone else may charge you.
I had the same problem on my Zenith , it was the Light Engine and after all was said and done it was a $3000 fix that luckily was paid for under warranty. You can't repair this yourself it is buried deep in the set and needs to be aligned properly....If you don't have a warranty you are better off buying something newer that will cost less and is bigger and probably better than what you have.
you should probably call a service tech...there can be so many things causimg the problem and its alot easier to have them deal with it than you trying to do it on your own. there are too many different parts you might or moght not have to replace and still have it not work. a tech can fix it and youll know its done right
To be very Honest, i am not well conversant with Rear Projection TVs.
I suggest that you try with someone else. Again from my personal point of view, i am of the feeling that itcan be fixed, and pretty easily. There must be a "Service Mode" which can be accessed by the remove, and then the Convergence Settings / Adjustments can be corrected.
But, I shall make additional enquiries and and let you know.
