The problem could be the pump, the drain hose or the timer. It will not drain if left to sit. The thing to try first is to put a cup of white vinegar in the machine and let it wash. This may remove sludge or scale blocking the strainer. 2nd take the hose loose at the sink drain and see if it is half clogged with grease or food. Check the hose and the nipple. Last, if it does not work take the bottom off the dishwasher. 4 screws and a plate. look for the pump and see if the hoses are clear. Sears will sell you a manual to repair and test this machine at its Parts Central on line
first, run a rinse, drain & spin cycle. after it finishes filling, shut the water supply (taps) off. If water enters the washer after the drain, it has to be sifoning back in from the DRAIN hose. Check to see if the drain hose is not going up above the washer more than a few inches
remove bottom cover ckd pump for possible restriction..most have acess port on front if not remove hoses also pump impeller may be slipping on shaft or have broken fins
My dishwasher, Bosch Model No. SHU9922UC/U12, Serial No. 10 0202 80447 01 0040 goes through its wash, rinse and dry cycles but sometimes there is some water remaining on the items in the upper tray and one inch or so of water remaining in the bottom of the tub. Once water leaked out onto my kitchen floor. I found some broken glass and some plastic in the circular trap at the bottom and have removed the detritus.
I had the same problem with my GE Max model gsd6260k. I could hear it trying to drain and some small amounts of water going into the sink drain pipes but it never emptied it all there was aprox 1/2 inch of water that's 1.25 cm aprox for the metric lovers... lol
What i did was...Clean out all debris that was there.
There is a small basket (aka screen) just behind the bottom arms just a tad to the right i lifed it up enough to get a turkey baster into the opening (drain?). I coudn't seem to find the screws without taking all the bottom apart to get the basket out, as the water line going up the back to the center arms is there. Then i used the baster to remove water and i kept squeezing the air forcefully from the baster into the hole. This help, i don't know if it was a clog or what but i let the tub start to fill with water and then hit the start button again which makes it drain out. It was definately draining faster. when it finished there was no more water in the bottom of dishwasher.
