As to how this problem has started cant be guessed unless i know when it started and the programs working on your computer but the simplest solution to your problem can be re-installation of the OS.then re install your drivers and also install a good anti virus.this problem is probably the work of a virus.

I put my Dell Dimension 9200 XPS 410 into sleep mode after connecting a wireless keyboard and mouse and the only way to wake it is to hold the power button in until it shuts off and then switch the power...

I would say it is in the Hibernation Mode To get it out of this mode you need to go to your Control Panel, open "POWER OPTION'S" and deselect the Hibernation mode then reboot.

My mouse and keyboard won't work...after i restart it several times, then it works,,,it will wake up out of standby or start up,but the mouse won't move, sometimes when the mouse does move the keyboard won't...

i assumed that you use device PS2 (Mouse & Keyboard), this rarely situation, but you haved installed and not more better, because the problem not with your system, but with your hardware, maybe you can change with USB Mouse Device and for Keyboard PS2 is better than USB Keyboard.

While playing an online game my moniter goes in to the saving mode what can i do

is this a game that requires your mouse? if not move it from time to time to keep this from happening also, right click on your main desktop and click preferences then click screen saver, then click power and you can change it so it never goes into power save mode (can be changed at anytime)

My computer turns off when I move the mouse or the space bar after it has been in hibernation for a couple of hours or so. If I move the mouse or space bar before this time there is no problem. Any ideas...

You should disable the hibernation feature. It is utterly useless.
Using Windows XP, RIGHT click anywhere on the desktop and then select PROPERTIES.

From there, select the SCREEN SAVER tab.

In the section, "MONITOR POWER" click on the POWER button.

Go to the HIBERNATE tab.

Click on OK, etc. and close out the display properties tab.

For safety's sake, restart your PC and see how things work out for you.

While performing a task , the screen saver comes on when i stop moving mouse. Watching a movie on line , same problem.

Right clcik on the desktop and select Properties->Screen Saver. Then go to screen Saver and select None from the drop down menu. And you will not be disturbed any more by the screen saver.

I want to watch a movie on my pc but it goes into sleep mode 20 minutes into the movie. How can i change the settings. It displays (auto input interjection) how can i change it?

Turn off your screensaver from your desktop settings, and modify your power control settings from within control panel. Alternately, you can make a conscious effort to move the mouse every 19-1/2 minutes. I think I would change the settings.

If you find my suggestions to be helpful, please share with us some details so that others may benefit from knowing the whole story. Thank you!

Hello- I just purchased a refurbished HP 1740 17inch flat screen LCD monitor from The display is great, however on occasion the screen goes white. It reminds me of screen saver and seems...

Hi Cmrix,

it does sound like a driver problem in fact id bet on it. Just because the latest drivers are downloaded does not mean they are the best thing for your display. For example i fixed a clients pc that wanted to play the world of warcraft game and the solution was to actually install an older version of the drivers for his video card.
Theres a couple things you may try but it requires that you uninstall the latest drivers and install an older version of the drivers. You can do this by uninstalling the card and/or replacing the drivers with older ones through the device manager(start menu>control panel>system>hardware>device manager).

My other thoughts on troubleshooting this is to make sure that my screensaver was turned off and see if that fixes anything. what bothers me about this is that it happens while your using the pc (moving the mouse, using the keyboard etc).

It might also be a bad connection of some sort so you might replace the monitor cable, re-seat the vid card etc.make sure nothing is lose.

I hope I helped

Optical Mouse Pointer Freezes for a sec or two sometimes longer then restarts, left and right buttons operate and roller works moving screen up and down orleft and right. Optical light dim when frozen...

You should install the mice driver or uninstall the current mice driver and reinstall it back after restarting. if this not help, something wrong with your mice and you'll need to replace it.
