A bad connection somewhere--when it happens if picture is 3d look in menu for convergence and call up the grid of lines--if they are not perfect you have convergence issue which usually requires parts to be replaced.
In this set sometimes the chips will become flaky and convergence will jump in and out.
you must open the back cover of tv, and then things you should do is set "SCREEN" adjustment on the flyback transformer. you must turn it counterclockwise to reduce and decrease the level of screen brightness. turn screen adjustment gradually until the horizontal blanking lines disappear from the screen. and blurred images will be sharp again
The LXI or Sears brand used philips TV's. These sets are known for bad coolant fluid. In between the picture tube and their lenses is a layer of clear coolant. Over time the coolant breaks down and causes the picture to become blurry. This can be a complicated repair involving removal of the picture tubes and lenses. Have a repair shop check it for you. Thanks for using fixya.
hi gud day! your problem has a solution. Just try to fix your tv from blurry picture. Pull the socket at hte back of the picture tube. remove the socket from pcb(printed circuit board) de solder the pins. then after that, if you see a 2 metal formed like a small mountain facing each other, try to clean those remove the rust (green color) using sander or any material you can use, just avoid using oil on that bcause it is sparking. then try to install it again and try to turn on your tv. if still not working replace that socket with a new one. you can buy it at any electronic supply store. and re install then on it again.. surely it will fix your tv without expensive components.
be sure unplugging the tv from ac souce before disassimbling...
there's a little plastic screw right besides the viewfinder, i think it's on the right side. try to adjust sharpness with this screw (it's actually for people with glasses, allowing them to take pictures without wearing the glasses).
as your problem is
the picture has become blurry/hazy
1 it sounds me that there is a little sparking near high voltage section that is near flyback transformer.please get it check.
2 if it is ok then focusing anode wire going to crt base from flyback transformer is not making proper contact due to some foreign material deposited on it.
please call tech person if you ae not aware of it as tv is a very high voltage device.
