Mother board asus A7V8X-LA

Hi Ken again, I have tried all that you said and everything seems to be okay the cables and the video card are good. I tried the AGP and the PCI slots with several different video cards and tried all three PCI slots on the board and none of them work but I pu the same items in another computer and they work fine I also tried three different monitors and still no help. I think I have to break down and get the new board what do you think.

Then that video adapter IC (integrated circuit ) in the motherboard which is located near the AGP or PCI express slot is in problem just visit the motherboard technician & get replaced that one ..
it will work ...
the cost of it is some what higher i think to repair .....

just once you visit the motherboard technician before you purchase the new board ....

The issue is not the monitor, it is the video card. It may be a driver issue (Download and update the display adapter with the latest video driver.) also try booting in the safe mode, See if the issue occurs in safe mode. If the driver update has no effect and issue occurs in safe mode, you may need a new video card. Also disable any screen saver (Set Screen saver to NONE) see if issue goes away. If none of that helps. replace the video card

My monitor does not turn on when power is turned on. the monitor stays black. my mother board is an asus A7V8X-LA

Hi...

When we say monitor doesn't turn on you need to check the power cable if it is correctly plug in, Check the monitor cord if it is plug in directly to your motherboard port. Some motherboard have installed external video card once you have install an video card you can plug your monitor cord to the video card.
When the problem is still occur you need to disassemble the unit. The processor have problem it doesn't display. Remove it and clean after that put a thermal paste so that the heat from CPU will absorbed by the heatsink.

No signal on monitor

You might try switching the VGA cable if you haven't. If that doesn't work then I'd agree with you in saying the motherboard is likely fried.

Have you:

Made sure everything is connected properly?
Reseat (remove and put back in) the components (Memory, Video card, HDD, cables)?
Run with only the essentials (CPU, Motherboard, video, RAM)?

Will the PC even power up?

The A7V8X-LA motherboard only supports SATA1. Your new hard drive is likely SATA2 (SATA-II). You'll likely need to change jumpers on the drive to make it compatible with SATA1.

It's a tiny bit slower than SATA2 (okay, twice as slow). But, it's still faster than PATA (IDE).

No driver for ASUS A7V8X-MX in ASUS Site

Hi Sara,
Asus does not support Vista for the A7V8X-MXSE. As you have seen. You have two choices. You can try this driver, it posted it supports Vista. Click on the link. http://driverzone.com/device.php?id=58745

Or you can buy a new AGP8x/4x video card, 1.5volt only that will support Vista. Like this card. http://www.axiontech.com/prdt.php?item=78974
How to tell if the card supports 1.5v When looking at the card there should only be two sets of copper connectores not including the locking tail. If the card has three connectores it does not support 1.5v.
If you choose to replace the onboard (Intergrated), VIA UniChrom video card, please remember to disable the VIA UniChrom within the bios.

Wow, just buy a gaming computer. The burn-in, compatible components, warranty, all those things are sooo nice. Take a lot of burden off the whole system.

AlienWare has really good stuff.

Asus a7V8X- X stucks in the main screen of ASUS that's all

Does it come up with any warning messages in POST? if not try removing all unnecessary components, eg all cards except for video, use only one stick of ram in the last DIMM slot and all usb cables from the back except for keyboard and mouse(if usb). Boot it up then if it goes right through switch off and add a component then try again, use this process until it stops responding, then repost what caused it to stop. Otherwise if removing all those components didn't make it respond properly try updating your bios, on your motherboard it has the Asus EZ flash utility so you can do this straight from the bios screen, all the instructions and software you need can be found here

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

instruction links on the left, downloads on the right just make the appropriate selections from the drop-down menus.

hope this helps.
