Me too same thing it just randomly decides which disks it likes and which it dosen't it won't play a certain disk one day and will play it the next day. It's very temperamental, try leaving the disk in the player turning off the unit for 5 minutes then turning it back on. It dosen't always work but 1/2 the time it does.

Hi, I have a Samsung DVD-VR300E dvd/vcr combo. The DVD player won't read any DVDs anymore, whether bought or recorded. What I don't understand is that it does still read the DVD cleaner disk! It won't read...

The laser in the DVD drive may be shot (?), even though it seems to read the DVD cleaner disc. I attended a maintenance class on cleaning CD and DVD writer drives for PCs and was told not to use the disc cleaners with brushes as they can knock the laser out of alignment. It's best to use a can of pressurized air to clean a drive when it's open. Just make sure not to allow any of the propellant to get inside!

Dvd does not read disks

It has been my experience that usually when a DVD or CD player quits reading disk is because it needs to be cleaned. If you get just a little bit of dust on the laser lens inside it will not work.I believe you can buy a cleaner for it.

if its not a logic board issue, then its a read head issue. i would try everything else first, and then take the outer case off and physically clean the laser emitter / read head, and look for debris in the track the read head follows from center to edge of the disc.
if anyone else has a better suggestion that is not as invasive, try it first.
good luck
