If everything is connected correct, the only thing I can think of, is you don't put in a surround signal. If you only feed 2 way stereo, only two speaker will work. Also if you switch to stereo, the other channels will stop working. Check the cables, the settings and the input.
the unit is ok. User manual on page 42 says that the digital sources can not be output trough multisource output. Try to use VCR-1 VCR-2 audio output jacks instead.
In general, your PC's sound card (and its controlling software) will determine what it can connect to. Even the most basic PC would have stereo analog output via the typical green 1/8" connector or a headphone jack that easily adapts to RCA pair for analog audio connection. Any Line Level input EXCEPT PHONO would accept the PC's output. The output level would be controlled by the sound card software and settings. The SA-HT800's single LINE Input would accept the Green stereo audio or speaker output from a standard PC, once adapted. Select VCR.
Find your PC's Sound Controls and enable the applicable input. make sure the volumes of both Inputs and Outputs are turned up. Though not applicable to theGemini, more-advanced sound cards and audio hardware would have similar adaptable 5.1 or 7.1 (paired) analog outputs and / or digital audio outputs that conform to the s/pdif or Dolby Digital standards.
curt, I bought this Denon AVR 1611 and I have HD cable. If you have cable you can set it up two ways. First way (the way I have it) is to get a switch box with 2 HDMI out (mine has 4 inputs and 2 outputs) and maybe 2-4 inputs. Put the cable from the wall in one of the switch box inputs. Now hears the cool thing. Put 1 of the outputs from the switch box to the Sat/Cable input on the 1611 then put the another output to your tvs HDMI input. This allows you to switch from the tv only output or the 1611 surround output without touching the switch box. The other way is to buy a converter from HDMI to VGA. The only thing here is that you would have to setup your sound through Aux in the front of the [email protected]
Make sure that the volume is not muted or too low on the TV...the TV volume output to your receiver will be performing the function of a pre-amp to your receiver. Then select the appropriate input on the receiver that you have the TV audio connected to.
Sounds like a speaker wire is shorting against either another speaker wire or something metallic. Check your speaker wires to make sure they're not shorting (touching). If that doesn't work, I'd take it to a repair facility. Good luck!
You could try the optical route. You should be able to use the analog RCA audio outputs of the TV to the analog TV or VCR audio inputs of the receiver as well. Select the appropriate input on the receiver and you should have TV audio.
This unit upconverts all video inputs to component output, so connect all your devices to your denon audio and video inputs and component video out of the denon to the tv component in and all should work fine
Ron Digital audio will only reproduce in the surround area you will have to connect using analog connections in order to get that sound in the 2nd zone
