Question about Frigidaire Dryers

1 Answer

I have a Frigidaire Heavy Duty gas dryer. The gas ignites and glows for a couple seconds but then turns off - no heat to the dryer. Through my research I have been advised to replace the gas valve coil. Is this correct? How do I take apart the dryer to reach the coils?

Most current models have a removable front panel that allows easy access to the gas valve/coils. Your user's manual should instruct you on how to remove the front panel from your particular model. Coils are probably the most common failure. Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

Below is a link to common solutions that will help you with parts and diagnostic procedures that are specifically tuned to your manufacturers data plate information.
It provides exploded view imagery, belt routing diagrams, parts imagery and function, parts ordering and shipping information, error code details, just about anything you need to get your appliance up and running again.

Tip: Always provide the complete information provided on the manufacturers product information data tag, located on the unit, and not in the user’s manual. This will help you acquire a more accurate and expeditious response to your complaint.

I have a Frigidaire gallery commercial heavy duty dryer model #GLGR331AS1 it just stopped heating turns on and runs but no heat. Could it be the solenoids or the igniter ?

If the igniter glows but it doesn't ignite, most of the time, it's the valve coils, most of the other times, it's the radiant sensor.

If the igniter doesn't glow, check your thermal fuse. If your thermal fuse is good, replace your igniter.

Good luck!

Simple. Your solenoids are overheating because of age. Most American dryers use the same 2 coils:

No heat to our gas frigidaire dryer

Make sure the gas valve is opening, you'll smell gas. Second, check if the glow bar comes on or, if the thermal couple is lined up to the igniter.

Gas dryer stopped heating

Your gas valve solenoids are bad, or else the igniter (glow bar) has failed. Hope this helps!
