Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have an HP PSC 2510 that has a permanent hourglass busy symbol showing. When turned off and on there is a grinding noise from the scanner transport mechanism which ceases after about 1 minute but the hourglass remains. Can anyone help please?

I understood that the mechanism was not "home" and the reset did nothing. Service is not an option when printers are so cheap.

Having bought a replacement and little "impact" technology solved the problem!

Looks like a faulty gear mechanism in your scanner. It is not able to return to the home position. You could try a hard reset: Unplug from power source and PC, wait about 5 minutes and try again. If the issue recurs, then you will need to take it in for servicing..

As I can make it work

Fix Driver Solution In Windows-Start-Control-Panel-Device Manager then search through the list for the element of distress. If it's Audio, it is in the Sound-Video-Game Controllers whereby left clicking on that section will open up a window indicating your electronic devices. A video Camera-Sound Source may show up and if you Right Click on that line you get a message Update Software? You will get another option the Search On-Line Note-you must have internet access for this feature- and say yes, and allow a search to ensue. If you have the Best Driver installed a message stating so will appear- if not you will get an updated driver and it will be installed for you automatically. The other method is to go to the Manufactures Web Site and Support area. Input the necessary data re Model, etc. and look for Drivers. Update ALL new drivers at the same time and install them accordingly.

Screen on hp psc 2410 shows picture of hour glass

I too have this problem and I have found how to correct it. It worked for me and hopfully it will work for you and others. Turn off your printer. Open the scanner cover. Turn your computer back on. That is what I did and it fixed it for me for now. Please send me an E-Mail if it fixed it for you. I have a sneaky suspecion that it just started working again and me opening the scanner cover was not the fix. Thanks, Wayne

Hp 2510 printer will reset, i have the hr glass showing

Can not find permanent fix, but with my 2510 if I unplug it for about 1/2 - 1 hour it starts properly.
Until the next power shortage of course, than I have to repeat the process

HP 2510 printer in "wait" mode indefinitely

It sounds to me like the printer needs repaired/replaced as the gears which drive the printer cartridges' belt are no longer aligning correctly. At today's prices, I strongly suggest just replacing the printer as you can get a new one pretty cheap now. Good luck!

Using multiple HP printer models with same Windows XP laptop

I doubt there is a universal driver , however you could connect directly to your pc or via a router and share it over your home /business network, and access it them that way

Printer wont work! Hp Psc 2410 All In One

I had the same problem and following a suggestion on another forum, http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/printer/42155#2, I cleaned the bottom of the glass and it now works better than it ever did before. Taking it to pieces is a little tricky but not impossible.

get new printer drivers here first

install, then run a test page with printer disconnected from computer..

if that works, then reconnect printer to computer. should 'see' it, and proceed..

Unit wont start up after power failure

Answer on fixyourownprinter.com. Search there to see how to lubricate rod under scanner glass. Common fault. Mine responded instantly starting up fine after rod lubrication which stops scanner initialisation routine and leaves you looking at hourglass.
