Looks like a faulty gear mechanism in your scanner. It is not able to return to the home position. You could try a hard reset: Unplug from power source and PC, wait about 5 minutes and try again. If the issue recurs, then you will need to take it in for servicing..

Fix Driver Solution In Windows-Start-Control-Panel-Device Manager then search through the list for the element of distress. If it's Audio, it is in the Sound-Video-Game Controllers whereby left clicking on that section will open up a window indicating your electronic devices. A video Camera-Sound Source may show up and if you Right Click on that line you get a message Update Software? You will get another option the Search On-Line Note-you must have internet access for this feature- and say yes, and allow a search to ensue. If you have the Best Driver installed a message stating so will appear- if not you will get an updated driver and it will be installed for you automatically. The other method is to go to the Manufactures Web Site and Support area. Input the necessary data re Model, etc. and look for Drivers. Update ALL new drivers at the same time and install them accordingly.
