Question about Whirlpool Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I just purchased a Whirlpool dehumidifier that states it is a 25 pint item. What does the 25 pint refer to? Surely it is not the tank, as it only holds about 3.2 litres.

I have moved my Danby DPAC120068 Designer Air Conditioner to my basement to use it as a dehumidifier. What do I need to do? Do I vent the unit still?

No matter were you place it, it must be vented just like before. Which may be difficult in a basement, depending on how high off the floor the window(s) may be. As a basement dehumidifier, don't expect much. As, an AC/Dehumidifier it only has a 4 pint per hour capacity and then will have to be drained.

Hope this helped you and hanks for choosing FixYa.

Kenmore Dehumidifier Model Number: 90701 works well but rattles like crazy on carpet with padding in a finished basement. The item is level and is only one day old.

Sometimes dehumidifiers will do this, when the water level in the tank reaches a certain level. My 3 year old LG Dehumidifier does it too. The easy quick fix is to smack both sides of the unit at the same time with open hands. Amazingly, the rattling will stop. At least it does with mine. It has something to do with the unit being on padded carpet.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Where do I pour more water into it? It automatically shuts off when it runs out of water, I purchased it from a friend who did not have an owner's manual so I don't know where to add more water so it...

You don't pour water in that. It makes its own water. LOL
It shuts off when it gets full of water. I am not familiar with this dehumidifier but I know it holds 4 pints then the float comes up and kills the power. Take the cover off and I am sure you will find a tub full of H2O.

MODEL CPRD12HX7-Q THE UNIT WILL NOT TURN ON AND...

I have the same model and if you have been running the dehumidifier the internal water tank will fill with condensate water. You will need to unplug the black plug (in back of unit) to release the pints of water it has accumulated in the tank. Be sure to have a pan under the plug as it will drain immediately. Do not tip the portable unit if you need to put in a shower stall to drain, as water will leak out of the internal water tank into your unit. Hope this helps.

How can I determine if the ac is removing the correct amount of moisture from the air?

tech answer is:3 pints of water per hour per 1 ton of cooling.
General rule of thumb is 20-25% of the capacity of the unit is devoted to dehumidifying.
If unit runs constantly and the temp really does not seem to be effected, unit is probably too small. If unit runs and cycles off frequently, i.e. short run times, and humidity is high, unit is too big.

Hope this helps

All I wanted was to purchase the attachment for my dehumidifier.  I did not want to sign up for a plan.  Please answer the question.  Surely Danby sells this part, just tell me where to find it.

Danby dpac7008 portable air conditioner

I want to know how these portable air conditioners are supposed to be set up. Do they have to be on the same as the window out of which the hose goes? If the window is 4.5 feet off the ground, does the air conditioning unit need to be put on a table to make it and the window on the same level?

To the best of my knowledge the unit can stay on the floor and included the product features listed below and it does have a dehumidifier reservoir with direct drain and to make sure if you use the drain hose that the hose is higher than the item that you are draining the water into or you can elevate the unit so that the hose can drain outside and out the window - but you can also drain the water into a bucket or some thing that will hold water. I hope this will help you…..
