I got the following error response when trying to recover my PC (Toshiba-satellite M100)using recovery disc ERROR:10-FC10-0017. Pls help!!!

If your model Toshiba laptop has a Restore partition on thehard drive then follow these steps to restore your Toshiba to the Out of theBox condition.
1. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power buttononce to switch on
your notebook.
2. When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key.
3. When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the systemrecovery.
4. Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.
5. Select Recover to out-of-box state. 6. Click Next again.
7. Click Next to Start recovery.
8. Restart the Toshiba laptop when there restoration process finishes running.Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, timeand language settings.

Newer Toshiba laptops usually have the ability to create recovery discs that will let you recover to "factory settings." Try this:

1. Click Start

2. Select All Programs

3. Select Recovery Disc Creator.

Recovery Disk Creator

4. Within the Recovery Disc Creator select Create

5. When prompted enter the first blank DVD and select Ok

6. When prompted enter the second blank DVD and select Ok

Error 10-FC12-0570 on Toshiba satellite This error message means that the recovery utility was not able to read the data from the disc correctly, or wasn't able to write it to the hard drive.
The problem could be with the disc, the CD/DVD drive or the hard drive.


Solution:

Try copying the second disc using another system. If it's impossible: order for a new disc. If you can copy it, try using the copy to do the restore.

Try using a third party disk checker to verify the problem, is or is not, with the hard drive.

The best way would be to load the Windonws Vista discs, format the pc and reinstall.
(Vista Recovery Boot Cd is available free by Microsoft). Download it burn the Image .iso and run that disc. That disc will not restore the OS: run diagnostics on the HDD; once disk check is completed and repaired, proceed with the Recovery disks that you have.

but usually error 10-FC12-0570 is pertaining to a bad HDD or memory


First, try copying the second disc using another system. If you can't copy it, order replacements from Toshiba Customer Assistance: 1-800-457-7777. If you can copy it, try using the copy to do the restore.
You can try using a third party disk checker to verify the problem is or is not with the hard drive. But since the system is under warranty, you're going to have to arrange to have it repaired anyhow, so it may not be worth the effort to verify whether it's the hard drive or CD/DVD drive. The best way would be to load the Win Vista discs n format the pc...and reinstall...iam telling this because u have a tried the recovery disk as well....

I know most users will not have the Vista CD with you but the Vista Recovery Boot Cd is available free by Microsoft just google...

Download it burn the Image .iso and run that disc. Since that disc will not restore the OS all it does it lets u run diagnostics on ur HDD and allows u to install the OS. Once disk check is completed and repaired, proceed with the Recovery disks that you have.

Restart the computer and keep tapping f8 key till you see a different screen.Boot the computer in safe mode.Check to see if it recovers.

Yes, you will need a fresh copy of a OS/boot your machine with cd in tray and follow instructions/then place recov cd in tray/go to my computer and right click/cd and explore/look for drivers and install alon with any onther software you need

Recovery disks are model-specific, mainly because they have different devices and drivers. Setup drivers are downloadable, and copied to a CD at an Internet cafe.
