My washer will fill then there is a loud clicking sound like door has locked then the washer stops and gives Fdl or F11 error code. Had to unplug and then was able to open door after plugging back in. Had to manually bale out the tub and remove clothes. Removed top but am not sure what I should be testing. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Justin, check or by pass the lid switch if it has one, with a insulated jumper wire.

That is a normal sound when the transmission shifts from the last spin cycle to go into the agitate cycle. It should make a loud click sound that does not last longer than a second. There is nothing wrong with your washing machine.
usually if this is a kenmore frontloader f11 is a communication error between the door lock and the ccu board. usually you'll hear a clicking sound before it fails. If so you need a central electric board. It is located directly under the top lid in the back. you can't miss it it's the only thing that has a lot of wires going to it.
