Question about Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 - ATSC HDTV receiver / analog TV tuner / video input ad (1181)

Connection Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1250 tuner?

I installed the PCI card without difficulty and dowloaded all of the drivers from the WinTV CD ver 4.1. My goal is to receive television signals free of charge through my internet provider to my desktop pc. From there, I want to connect my PC up to my 37" flat screen LCD TV. I pay for Rogers Cable TV right now and have hooked the cable up to my Hauppauge card. This brought me tons of channels using s-video, composite, analog, ATSC and QAM digital. What I want to know is how much of this programming will not be available once I cancel my cable account? Rogers will cut off the cable feed but what can I expect to get hoooked up the way it is? What kind of antanea would you suggest or any other means of not paying for a monthly fee. Also, what kind of adaptor do I need to install in my PC to be able to run a video/audio feed to my LCD TV. I expect to do my tuning on my PC with the remote and software that came with the tuner.

Many thanks on this one,
Doug

You are not going to get anything once you disconnected from the provider. It is the same thing as just pull the cable from the wall.
you can get TV signal (normal basic-brocasted) by using the roof top antenna, I don't know what kind of antenna will be require after 2/09. when the TV broadcast change to digital signal. but in the mean time, you need a converter box from analog to digital for the TV.

Nobody want to pay the monthly fee. if you have the equipment, you can set up the receiving station from the satellite. then you don't have to pay anything. As far as I know, no body have such equipment. cable company spend millions of dollars to set them up, so you have to pay for it.

Make sure you have the remote sensor plugged all the way into the connector on the card. Also check your taskbar for the "remote" icon which confirms you have "irblaster32.exe" installed.

Xp media center says no ntsc tuner installed

Okay, Media center does not work with some Wintv HVR's yet it will work with the software it came with and sometimes media center will use the wintv software to make it work but its sketchy. If you want a more media center compatiable card look at www.microsoft.com website they have a list of media center compatable Tv tuner cards, Trust me I am having the same problem with my tuner card now and its not wintv its a RCA and its under windows 7 this is just the thing here not all card work with media center.

Most likely, all stations in your area have switched to Digital Transmission, and your card can no longer find any. If that is the case, then you need a new card (they are not convertable) sorry.

Basically what I can see from what I have read one had dual tuner capability and one is set up for PCI Express. Both look like great cards.

WinTV-HVR-1600 Tuner card to DishNetwork receiver

Yes, but what it can connect to depends on what Dish DVR you have. The newer, HD ones only have HDMI, S-Video, and that 5-split coax as outputs for the main TV since you only get these box's if you have and HDTV.

This is because regular old coaxial is no longer good enough for them. This means you must connect the newer DVR's to the S-Video input on the Hauppauge1600 since it is the only input to the card the Dish DVR supports.

If your DVR is older and has the coax out, you can use that and connect it to the Hauppauge analog input.

We had to perform a PC recovery. I downloaded the "current" driver. Got weak signal and black and white only.

TV Tuner for my HP

Hello Matt,

WISH YOU HAPPY MERRY CHIRSTMAS!!!!!!!!

I am Vikram Kumar Thumu from India- Hyderabad. I have seen your message on the issue related to the Tv Tuner card. Since, I work with HP as Technical Support I would like to suggest you on this issue.

Well, the "HP ExpressCard TV Tuner for Windows Vista
(RM436AA#ABA)" supports only for Windows Vista.... and it will not work with Windows XP.

If you are lookng for Windows XP Tv Tuner Card, I recommend you to purchase Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2 (EC557AA#ABA). As this one supports for Windows XP but needs Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 .

These are available solution for you at this moment . I hope that this should resolve the issue for you.

If you need any other information please do mail me at thumuvikram@rediffmail.com. I'll be glad to help you.

Once again WISH YOU HAPPY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Bye...
