You can probably buy a card that works with the 1.4.1 update like the
Acekard 2i, EZFlash Vi or M3i Zero. However, make sure you only buy the
real one as fake/clone cards can't be updated when Nintendo releases a
new firmware (it makes them cheaper to produce that way, which is why
they don't do it). I recommend grabbing R4i / DS cards from www.dscardworld.com itself or R4 Cards from NDS-Gear if you're in Canada or Europe, since their international shipping rates are a bit cheaper.

For the N5 you need to fully format the 2gb card, don't be tempted to do a quick format because it won't work.
You are right to use version 1.28 but copy each file across individually in the order they are listed when you have downloaded them. Then you can create your 3 folders assuming you want them
I have spend a few months on and off arguing with these cards but doing as above should solve your problem.
either you got to unfortunately wait for yet another update or double check your mem card isnt too full? i had a case that baffled me once,..latest sw update, good roms, but would not load the games, kept coming up with cannot load data or save or summi, it was cos my mem was so full it didnt even have the room to create a save file for the game! so had to take a game or 2 off and it worked good,
erm..well im no pro but you could try the instructions guide or manual for more information.
if that doesnt work try taking it, blowing the game, and putting it back in so its clean, well hey it works for me
try to plug it into the wall and move the male power jack whiles it plug into the female jack and hold the power button. see if you get any responds from it, if so you may have a lose solder joint. also why dont you try another battery. the battery may be shot and causing a conflict with the ds. worse things worse. the power jack could be broken inside. have you had any water damage?
found solution to R5:
download latest firmware (1.19 at present) and unzip
format MicroSD to Fat or Fat32
Copy firmware onto MSD in this order ONE BY ONE !!!!!!
This step is very important!!!!
4. _SYSTEM_ folder
5. moonshl folder
Then load your .nds files into the root.
I've had absolutely no problems with this card so far and if
installed correctly it works brilliantly!!!
