Just purchased ASUS Essentio Desktop PC - model CM1630. Salesperson gave me the impression there are built in speakers, but I have yet been able to hear sound. HELP, please!

Base on the specification of the Asus Essentio CM1630, it doesn't have a built-in speaker for multimedia listening.

Mostly, built-in speakers that came with the computer are only for knowing the beep codes of your motherboard. To know if is it starting up or there are errors on your computer.

I would suggest getting a pair of speaker to easily resolve this issue.

You can also try to connect an earphone or headset to try if there is any problem with the sound card of your computer. Just connect any earphone or headset that you might have and see if you can hear any sound.

My hp tower has a built in speaker how do I turn it off. I just want to hear sound from my speaks not the built in speaker

You have 2 options.
The easy one is: double click on the audio device at the task manager in order to open the audio mixer, try to locate the (internal) speaker slider and slide it all the way down. If the speaker slider is not viewable choose option and try to locate it at the new window in order to enable it and come viewable and then change it's volume. If the above method prove not to work you have to follow the hard way.
Open up the case. Locate near the front side of the tower the built in speaker. It has one pair of cables that are connected with a small plastic connector at the motherboard. Unplug the connector; maybe there is a clip in order to unlock the connector, use a small screwdriver with care not do make any damage at the motherboard. Close the tower and enjoy the sound from your speakers without the interference of the internal speaker.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

Sound???

You will not get any sound from a monitor if it does not have built in speakers. If it does have speakers, is it plugged into the computer?

We hav e dc5100mt that does not have a sound

The spec sheet for that model shows that there is a built in speaker. If you are hearing a beep or a bong or anything that is a one note sound when you delete a file, it's probably the reason. If you are comfortable enough, you can open the case and unplug the speaker wire from the motherboard. If it is hard wired to the motherboard, you can always use some wire cutters and cut ONLY the red and black wire that leads to the internal speaker. Please do this at your own risk and make sure you are taking all the precautions you can so you don't ruin your system.

No sound

If speakers are built into the monitor, then there should be an audio cable that connects from the monitor to the green speaker out jack on the back of the computer.

If speakers are NOT built into the monitor, then buy a set of speakers from a store.

Emachine computer no sound at all

Built in pc speakers are just for error beeps etc. You most likely have on-board sound. I would try getting a sound card (with drivers) Put it in a free pci slot & connect your speakers to it. :)

I cant get a sound out from my speaker. though windows media player is working . It is always telling me that no active mixer is installed, please install mixer device. And in the sound evrything...

you need to re-install your sound drivers. if problem presist, it might need to replace sound card, if sound card is built on motherboard, you may need to purchase a new PCI sound card from market.
