So do mine , I have narrowed it down to have something with the
GPU to wrong drivers beeing installed or setup for the AGP.
Its possible for example to Run Linux standalone , but not possible to install any OS whatsoever.
i/run operatin disk take prompt comman and type chkdsk/rr 2-3 times it can be repair your system 2/ repair by operating disk if not work by two methode reinstal operating system.
To make it short, you can try un-installing SP3, but the reason you computer is crashing is due to a program that is having incompatibility issues. That doesn't meant that your programs can run on SP3, it mean your programs and maybe even your drivers were install when you had SP2 and they didn't like the service pack update. You can definitely try to find which programs or driver are causing the problems but I recommend. Do a full format(non quick) and then a fresh install of windows and then update windows, and also try to download the latest drivers from the manufactures website and then install your programs.
**So yes I recommend an operating system re-install.
its most likely your hard drive is not recognized by xp because it is a SATA drive. You need to go into your BIOS and set the compatibility mode for sata. or if your bios does not have this option then you need to install the drivers when xp asks if you would like to install any third party drivers during setup check with your manufacturer for the required drivers
