Changing a region code on a DVD player

We bought a GPX DVD player in USA but it won't play Australian DVD's after being assured that it would. Do you know how to fix this problem please?

The DVD player does not have a settings function. Are there any other ideas?

  • rallie Jul 04, 2008

Each time I press a number on the remote it comes up invalid key none of the codes worked.

  • rallie Jul 04, 2008

I'm not sure what region it is on I pressume the USA region. It just comes up wrong region whenever we put an Australian DVD in. The model number is PDL805 It has a suffix no. : M2/E4.

  • rallie Jul 04, 2008

No. We are having trouble finding contact details for them. It is an overseas number and I don't no the code to put in front of the number. I hve tried a few numbers but they are not correct.

  • rallie Jul 04, 2008

THanks for trying. We were assured it would play Australian DVD's. I will keep trying to contact the company.

To keep it simple, this means that DVD players and DVDs are labeled for
operation on within a specific geographical region in the world. For
example, the U.S. is in region 1. This means that all DVD players sold
in the U.S. are made to region 1 specifications. As a result, region 1
players can only play region 1 discs. That's right, the DVDs themselves
are encoded for a specific region. On the back of each DVD package, you
    will a find a region number (1 thru 6).

The geographical regions are as follows:

    REGION 1 -- USA, Canada

REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland

REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia

REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)

REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa

    REGION 6 -- China

REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use

REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...

REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played
Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit
and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1
cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for
other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs.

Is there a way to change the region code on a Sony HCD-S300 Please?

Unfortunately, you have a DVD player that is "Region Specific" and cannot be changed. Your system has a region code printed on the back of the unit and will only play DVDs that are labeled with identical region codes. DVDs labeled "ALL" will also play in this unit. If you try to play any other DVD, the message " Playing this disc is prohibited by area limits." will appear on the TV screen. Depending on the DVD, no region code indication may be labeled even though playing is prohibited by area limits.

Code for multi region free

I figured out the code, it's printed incorrectly many places.

1 - Turn on DVD Player
2 - Press Open/Close button - open tray
3 - Press "8888"
4 - Put a DVD in the tray (from outside your region)
5 - Press Open/Close button - close tray
6 - Voila! It plays!

Works on mine!

Dvd region codes

Try this (for a LH-T360SE)

Open disk tray and press 0000, a two line menu appears with "Edit Region _" and "Region Code:x" put in required region (presumably 0) and press enter. Region Code:0 appears. power off and enjoy.

region code 0 is No region restrictions.
