Try and clean the inside of it out with compressed air and cu-tips. Remove the cover and open the cd tray > Unplug the dvd from the power source > Use the compressed air to blow out the inside of the dvd really well > Use a small light source to look inside to make sure there is nothing caught in the spindle like dirt, hair, dust, etc you need to look really close > Take the cu-tips and one by one dip them in a small amount of alcohol and clean the inside of the carriage and around the spindles and gears > Clean the optical lens also > Repeat this numerous times and with blowing the inside out and cleaning with cu-tips > Let air dry for 1 minute and replace the cover and plug back into a power source and check the disc (make sure your discs are clean and scratch free also). If this still does not solve the problem, it could be that your spindle is going bad. The good news is that it is not that expensive to replace. Hope this helps and let me know if you need further assistance.

Toshiba DVD Player - How do I get the DVD out of the Tray when the power is no longer working?

Open the top cover by removing all the screws around the cover and the two screws on the sides.
Gently lift up the cover from the backside up and pull back to free it from the front.
Now you can see the DVD player is exposed. Gently lift the DVD disc out from the back.

Voila!

This does not fix the "try not opening problem though"

Good luck,

Steve

How do I get a DVD out of the tray if the DVD player has stopped functioning? The power still works, but the buttons on the player (and the remote) have no effect.

DVD player will not open

try unplugging it for about 2 minutes to clear some memory and try it again. the tray motor may be shot or skipped a tooth on the gear and not hitting the switch. you may need to take the cover off and physically do it.

Have you tried unplugging the player completly for 2 minutes? Plug it back in and try again. Also, you could try a new remote code or just replacing the system. P.S. some players have a cap/switch or button that needs to be removed or pushed in order to accept input.

DVD PLAYER

Hi Koji, My Toshiba DVD player does the same. It stops playing the disc, and the icon for incorrect disc displays. Often I cannot even start a movie. I keep getting BAD on the readout display also. I try hitting the player, or the stand in which the player is sitting, and sometimes it goes away and the movie plays. I will never buy Toshiba again.

My Toshiba SD-3960 sound does not work.

First thing before a landfill is to go into the units menu and see if something in the audio got turned off if not then inspect the connectors on the back for breakage. Good Luck
