Question about Cooktops

Gas Range Continuous Spark

I just moved into an apartment that has a GE Monogram gas range. When I turn on any of the burners, that burner will ignite, but all the burners then constantly click (continuously spark).

Does anyone know the problem; is there a simple solution? or does a service person need to be called?

Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.

I had spontaneous sparking on my Bosch PCD612CGB/01 Gas Hob once an hour then I replaced the Ignition Device (twice) and now the sparking is continuous.

I have also cleaned the burners and insulators, replaced the wiring loom which incorporates 4 switches (one for each gas burner) and I have replaced two of the four (Ignition Device to burner) ignition leads.

The Ignition Device sounds as if it is sparking internally when no output leads are attached then the sparking becomes faster and occurs externally when I connect the ignition leads.

I suspect something may be wrongly wired but I cannot get a wiring diagram.

Any steer would be much appreciated.

On all gas stoves/cooktops, when you switch on one burner to light, all other burner igniters will click at the same time. This is normal. Enjoy your new apartment!
