How do I take pictures in black and white with my nikon coolpix s220?

i can recommend read very well you owner manual specially the troubleshooting section. The images in the LCD monitor will darken in strong sunlight or bright light. This is a normall occurrence the devices containing CCDS, and doesnot contitute a malfunctions.
If you are using too much the flash+zoom, the batteries quicly will drain. maintian another set of batteries for replace, or better buy recharges batteries.

when the lcd screen is black or white,the best solution is for a replacement,change the lcd screen immediately.The nikon s220 lcd screen is not in a high price,you can buy it and fix it by yourself.

Found solution thru a google search, unplugged the camera from the computer, turned the camera off, plugged it back in and then turned it back on, the camera icon finally showed up in the Nikon transfer program

IMPORTANT to install the software before pluging in the camera!!!

But my ideal solution to downloading pictures is to remove you storage media from the carmera and use a card reader...

doesn't waste batteries, much quicker, needs no software to work...

Sorry, but 40 centimeters is a lot for a camera that isn't shockproof.
