I don't think that the drain is blocked, the toilette flushes no problem and it's a new bathroom (in the basement) in a newish house. The toilettes are also new. I've checked the outlside of the toilette numerous times as well as all around it and the only source of water or dampness comes from underneath the toilette and we are not currently using it, only occasionally flushing it to see if it will leak (I only see the water if I maneuver a piece papertowel under the toilette). The toto rep said to use a rubber seal and the plumber says to use wax? and the plumber also said that it may be condensation and not a leak???

I wonder, did they caulk around the bottom where it meets the floor. I guess condensation could happen if the room is very humid. but the condensation would be all over the tank. try caulking the base , let dry and try looking for the leak again. this should isolate if its coming from under the toilet or from the surface.

If it is condensation you will find condensation on the underside of the bowl near the back. To make absolutely sure that it's not condensation, pour about a quart of hot water into the bowl (just to get the water in the bowl, and the bowl itself up above room temperature). Then use paper towels to get it as dry as possible, then leave a fan on it for several hours without flushing. When it is dry as a bone, remove the fan, and put some ice in the bowl. Then wait 30 minutes. If it's condensation, it will be back. If not, then flush again and check for water. If it only comes back when you flush, then you need a new wax ring. Wax rings don't usually go bad, but sometimes during installation the wax ring doesn't seal correctly and it's not immediately apparent. To replace the wax ring you have to remove the toilet. It's easy if you have done it before, but it's not for everybody. good luck.

I will try the hot water/then ice thing. If it is the seal, do you think that three plumbers in a row could get it wrong??? Also about the wax vs rubber seal, which do you think would be better for the...

don't think you r going to get 2 toilet with same problem. I would think you have a broken floor flange instead. rubber seals are great as long as the floor is level and smooth where as the wax seals tend to fill in areas that are not quite level. hope you can get this thing figured out. Toto are great toilets and it would be a shame not want to use it.

They did not caulk around the bottom where it meets the floor as I am able to get a piece of papertowel under the toilette...If I caulk around the toilette then I won't be able to see if it's leaking...

If you use a clear caulk around the bottom and the leak stops then we will know it is coming from under and it will need to be pulled and replaced. if leak continues then there would be no need to pull the toilet any more.

I've installed a lot of Toto toilets and have had few leaks but, not from the one piece toilets. It might be a problem toilet but, I would be sure the drain is not blocked causing a small back up after the flush.I have seen this happen many times. The toilet can be pulled and a 5gallon bucket of water can be poured down the drain to test this before replacing the toilet. also be sure water is not spraying on the top of the tank lid and leaking down the back of the toilet. If you flush the toilet with the lid off it should be easy to see if that the problem. hope this helps.

What are Eau De Toilette, Eau De Parfum, etc?

These terms refer to the strength of the fragrance, or more specifically, to how much high grade alcohol and/or water has been added to the fragrance oils. Parfum (generally the most concentrated form you can buy) has 15-25% perfume oil dissolved in alcohol. Any mixture with a lower proportion of oil to alcohol is an eau (water).

Eau Fraiche (Usually 3% or less perfume oil)
Eau de Cologne (2 - 5% perfume oil)
Eau de Toilette (4 - 10% perfume oil)
Eau de Parfum (8 - 15% perfume oil)
Soie de Parfum (15 - 18% perfume oil)
PARFUM or Perfume (15 - 25% - also sometimes referred to as extract or extrait)
Perfume oil (15-30% perfume oil in an oil rather than alcohol base)

You may also see the term Parfum de Toilette. Most companies use this term to describe a concentration that is either the same as Eau De Parfum, or between Eau De Parfum and Parfum. Other companies use the term to describe an Eau De Toilette concentration.
To further confuse matters, some companies use different notes, or different proportions of notes, in the different forms of fragrance they offer. In addition, some companies reserve costly fragrance oils for their parfum, and use synthetic substitutes in lighter concentrations.

Why soap is called toilet soap

Interesting question!

There are many type of Soaps some of which are Industrial and extremely dangerous cleaning agents.

A 'toilet' soap is a mild soap, often coloured and scented, used for washing oneself ... in a washroom which usually has a toilet!

'Toilette' is the french word for washroom/bathroom.

Hope it helps!
