Samsung fridge freezer model number srs615dp. The temperature displays -16 and 3 degrees. After approx 10 hours the display flashes. Turn off the power and on again and it displays 4 and 14 degrees and the compressor cuts in and brings the temperature down for another 10 hours or so

Hi just wondering if you figured out the problem with your Samsung fridge yet.
It is definately a problem with the defrost part of the fridge. After approximately 4 to 10 hours dependent on many different factors it enters into defrost mode to get rid of any excess ice in both the fridge and the freezer. During the defrost stage the compressor will not run. If any fault occurs during the defrost stage the fridge will not restart unless you turn it off and back on again which restes the pcb and takes it out of defrost mode and the timer starts again.
Please let me know how you went with it.

Common issue with samsung fridges, there is a 10amp/ 77degreese thermal fuse (available at Jaycar for $3.50) for the defrost heaters, in both sides freezer plus fridge. I have usually found the dead fuse in the fridge section but freezer also worth a check.. its connected via a plug on about 10 inches of red and black wire & cable tied to the right hand side of the evaporiser, you should see it wrapped in white foam.. can check this by selecting ohms on your multi meter and put one test lead on each wire, if you get a reading (0-5 ohms) your fuse is ok, if the meter does not react the fuse is dead!!!.. hope this helps guys! took me agoes to fault find the first one I done! .. over the past 4 years i have had 2 variations of this problem. both times has been the heater in the fridge section. 1. every 8-10 hours the fridge drops the circuit breaker to the kitchen. you can tes this by resetting the unit via the power point. next place the unit in to test mode by pressing the quick freeze and refrigerator temp together for about 8-10 sec. then after the fridge is in test mode press the bottom right (freezer ten) two time with about a 2 second delay between press's. as soon as you do the second press your circuit breaker will drop. check the fridge heater first as it has gone on me three time over 4 years... the other scenario for this is where the the above is described. after about 8-15 hr you notice the temp is flashing. 1. check the fuse as described hove 2. place in to test mode as i described above, press twice to put into defrost cycle and wait 2 minutes and touch the heater element and check if it is warm, chances are that its not warm. if this is the case replace accordingly. PS worth noting when you order the part it will come with the condenser element, you need to detach and change just the heater

The temp says 14 and 8 but should be -21 and 3? Can anyone help

Controlling the Freezer temperature
The freezer temperature can be set between -14°C (8°F) and -25?C (-14°F) to suit your particular needs. Press the freezer button repeatedly until the desired temperature is shown in the temperature display. Keep in mind that foods like ice cream may melt at -16?C (4°F). The temperature display will move sequentially from -14°C (8°F) and -25?C (-14°F). When the display reaches -14?C (8°F), it will begin again at -25?C (-14°F). Five seconds after the new temperature is set the display will again show the actual current
freezer temperature. However, this number will change as the Freezer adjusts to the new temperature. The top and bottom guards in the freezer of this model are the two star sections, so the
temperature in two star sections are slightly higher than other freezer compartment.

Controlling the Fridge temperature
The refrigerator temperature can be set between 7?C (45°F) and 1?C (34°F) to suit your particular needs. Press the fridge button repeatedly until the desired temperature is shown in the
temperature display. The temperature control process for the Fridge works just like the Freezer process. Press the fridge button to set your desired temperature. After a few seconds, the Fridge will
begin tracking towards the newly set temperature. This will be reflected in the digital display. The temperature of the freezer or the refrigerator may rise from opening the doors too frequently, or if a large amount of warm or hot food is placed in either side. This may cause the digital display to blink. Once the freezer and refrigerator return to their normal set temperatures the blinking will stop.
If the blinking continues, you may need to "reset" the refrigerator. Try unplugging the appliance, wait about 10 minutes and then plug back in.

The refrigerator does not work at all or it does not chill sufficiently.
• Check that the power plug is properly connected.
• Is the temperature control on the display panel set to the correct
temperature? Try setting it to a lower temperature.
• Is the refrigerator in direct sunlight or located too near a heat source?
• Is the back of the refrigerator too close to the wall and therefore keeping air from circulating?

the problem must have been solved by the replacement of board..

i think you must consult the mechanic again for this

Fridge condensation - freezer thawing

OK now I'm wondering are theses numbers your getting 4 -9 the actual temps of the refrigerator and the freezer? and do they feel this cold and correct to you? I know the refrigerator side shouldn't be below 34 or so and definitely not below 32. If this is correct and the numbers are not settings but temps. (Now if you have a touch pad its electronic. If it has knobs it has a separate defrost and thermostat and are electro-mechanical)
If electronic Your control board and possibly defrost control are out.
It would more likely be the sensors going to the board(s) It will both sensors have the possibility of causing your problem. 1 will control the run of the compressor (and this one could and probably is connected to the inside coil) and 1 will control the air damper tween the refdg and freezer compartments, and may turn on the inside fan operation too.

(this would be my first suspect if these are degrees numbers). Look at the thermostat control see if it is attached to the indoor coil (usually the tube leavign the indoor section. If its not attached its not sensing the coil temp and when goes into defrost wala its not senmsing temps like its designed to do. Look for a broken clip or possible a plastic wire tie that holds this sensor in place.

Please get back to me with what you see - find on this look up.

The display unit keeps flashing on the fridge side on my samsung RS20CCVS.

When the temperature indicator flashes indicate then the temperature has ridge a level lower the the set temperature for example if you set you fridge side to 36 degree and and has fail to stop from getting cooler and has ridge 34 degree. some times those friges fail to calibrate them self tray by unplugging you dirge for 30 seconds and replug it then the board will auto calibrate for the next 24 hours If this problem comes back again that meas than your defrost element on the fridge side is bad.

Side by side fridge freezer

Based on your weird display issues I'd lean toward the control board problem. At least that can be "one" of a couple problems...
