Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "HPSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Look for Manuals and search them for CMOS Battery or RTC Battery.I just read the manual and the link is below. It looks like you will have to take the laptop apart to get to the RTC Battery. It's in the service manual under the Illustrated Parts Catalog. They show a diagram of the parts and where the are located.

The most common is CR2032. Also sometimes the battery will be in a vinyl covering and have a cable that attaches to a port on the motherboard. Whichever type you have you'll need to either remove the battery or unplug the cable and let the laptop sit for an hour or two. Then put it back, reassemble the laptop and reboot the laptop. With the CMOS battery out the computer will lose the date, time and password.

If removing the cmos batter does not remove the password you'll have to go to the manufacturers website and look for the manuals. See if the manual references how to reset bios. Most likely you'll have to short the jumpers or pull a pin.

this is how to bypass CMOS SETUP password

*open the cover of you laptop,
*remove the cmos 3v baterry.
*remove the main battery
*push the power button for 10 sec.
*wait for 5 to 15 minutes
*put back the cmos battery and connect the main battery
turn on your computer and enter to cmos setup

I have come across this prob several times and after resetting the bios via the cmos battery removal and reset the computers started up again, the cmos battery can be located in several places depending on your machine, or you could type your model into a browser and try to find some specs as to where the cmos is and is it easy to get to, some more modern machines also have a cmos reset by holding the start button for more than 8 seconds, any way good luck and hope this helps
