Follow the below steps and I am sure you will face no problem. This is to install the printer software ..

  1. Visit Canon's website at

  2. Click DOWNLOAD LIBRARY from the top menu.

  3. Select 'Multifunction' from the first drop-down list, 'Inkjet' from the second drop-down list, and your model from the third drop-down list.

  4. On the DOWNLOAD LIBRARY page for your model, click on the 'Drivers / Software' link and you will be presented with all driver files available. Find the file(s) appropriate to the operating system you are using (ex. Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000 and XP). Please take note of any "update" files that may be listed. These will ensure that your drivers work properly with operating system modifications, such as the updater for Windows XP Service Pack (SP) 2.

  5. At the bottom of the DISCLAIMER screen click on [I Agree - Begin Download].

  6. When you reach the download screen for your selected driver, you will find detailed instructions to assist in installing the files. You may wish to print these instructions (right-click in the window and select 'Print') or remember how to get back to them for later reference.

  7. On the File Download screen you will be asked, "What would you like to do with this file?" Be sure that 'Save this program to disk' is selected and then click 'OK'.

  8. On the Save As screen, make sure 'Desktop' shows beside 'Save in' and then click 'Save'.

  9. Once the download says it's complete, verify the file size. (Right-click the downloaded file on the desktop and click 'Properties'.)

  10. When you have confirmed the file size to be the same as previously noted, close the Properties window and double-click the filename to start the extraction and install process.

Installing / Replacing the BJ Cartridge
Follow this procedure to replace the BJ cartridge:

    1. Make sure the MultiPASS is plugged in.

    2. Open the document tray.

    3. Lift the document guides to open the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

If the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) does not open easily, slide the document guides outward and then open the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

Or slide the Document Feed Lever to either the automatic or manual setting.

    4. Press. If installing the BJ Cartridge for the first time, skip to step 6.

Caution: Do not try to manually move or stop the cartridge holder since this may damage the unit. Do not touch the components shown or any metal parts since this may adversely affect operation of the unit and/or affect print quality.

The MultiPASS has an automatic protection feature that helps keep it from overheating. If the cartridge holder does not move, unplug the MultiPASS and let it cool for several minutes. Then plug it in again.
Press to move the cartridge holder.

    5. Raise the blue cartridge lock lever on the cartridge holder and remove the BJ cartridge.

Caution: Discard the old BJ cartridge immediately according to the local laws and regulations for disposal of consumables. You may want to place it in a plastic bag to keep any residual ink from spilling. Spilled ink can stain any surface; protect yourself and your work area. If removing a BJ cartridge to use one of the optional BJ cartridges, be sure to store the BJ cartridge in the container provided with your MultiPASS. Otherwise the ink will dry and affect print quality.

    6. Remove the new BJ cartridge from its package, then remove the orange protective cap (1) and tape (2).

Caution: Discard the cap and tape. Never attempt to reattach them to the BJ cartridge print head. Install the BJ cartridge immediately after removing the cap and tape. Spilled ink can stain any surface; protect yourself and your work area.

    7. With the label facing outward, insert the BJ cartridge into the cartridge holder. Lower the blue cartridge lock lever until it locks into position.

    8. Press .

The cartridge holder moves to its home position on the right side of the unit and begins cleaning the BJ cartridge print head. This process takes about 55 seconds.

Caution: Do not try to manually move or stop the cartridge holder since this may damage the unit.

    9. Close the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

    10. Close the document tray.

Note: If you need to unplug the MultiPASS, wait until the unit is in standby mode (date and receive mode displayed in the LCD). Otherwise the cartridge holder may not be in its home position causing the BJ cartridge to remain uncapped and dry out.
