Question about Kenwood Car Audio & Video

4 Answers

I HAVE A 5 YEAR OLD KENWOOD KDC-x569. I have a new car I'm putting it in and just realized the security system has locked. It was so long ago I put it in I have no idea what the code is. Is there a way to override it. What can I do? I paid good money for it and I don't want to throw it out. I bought it from tweeter Etc. and they can't seem to help me.

We do not have the remote control anymore and that seems like the answer that will work. Thanks Jim

We don't have the remote anymore for the stereo, other than buying a new remote is there anyway to enter a default code or erase the old one and put in a new one without it?

  • drewmax1 Jul 04, 2008

The service manual, after 8$ told us the same thing you told us before and does not mention a way of clearing the code without a remote control. Do you know if it's even possible to do this without a remote?

  • drewmax1 Jul 04, 2008

That's the same thing over again, we don't have a remote, therefore we cannot hit a number 7.

  • drewmax1 Jul 04, 2008

We read the service manual, it doesn't say anything new.

  • drewmax1 Jul 04, 2008

We don't have a remote, it's 5 years old, and it is asking for a
security code none of us remember. We've tried everything you have
mentioned so far and it hasn't worked. We even read the service manual
and it simply told us the same thing you had told us before, only it
took us 5 minutes and 8$ to figure it out. Isn't there some other way
of clearing the code without a remote. If there is, it isn't in the
service manual you recommended we buy, which we've bought and it has
    failed us.

Your radio will require one of the following procedures.

Then using your remote enter your code.

Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio

stations). "C" should display.

Hi, I would like to install my kenwood kdc-w7534u into my mini one, how can I do it, can you help please?

To install your kenwood, you will need to first remove your stock radio. To do this, I believe there is a screw you can get at from the glove box. As well, there should be trim around the radio itself. Pry into that, and pull as hard as you can. It should pull off the trim-- from there, you should be able to remove the original radio.
While putting in your new head unit, make sure you have the right wiring harness. With this, you can plug existing wires into the new receiver. From there, all you need to do is make sure all of the previously installed wires are installed in the new unit correctly, then secure the unit and replace the trim.
Voila, you're done!

Are you sure that the model number is kdc-w7031? There is no such model listed on Kenwood's site. You can reach Kenwood here: http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Contact/

There are also phone numbers for technical support listed on this site as well.

Good luck.
