Question about Hyundai ImageQuest ImageQuest Q770 17" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Power issue Hi, Got this monitor sitting around now for nearly 16 months due to the fact it seems to have a power problem. I connect it to the PC and mains, switch it on, you get a small buzz, the LED goes amber, green, amber then off. I don't get a picture at all.

Sounds like the Power Supply is gone or on the way out. This is caused by the Power Switch Transistor being too loosely clamped to heatsink allowing it to become too hot, and go into what we call 'thermal runaway' (2-3sec) and it draws too much current and the PS powers off to protect itself... or one of the capacitors responsible for filtering the recitified AC to pure DC (what electronics use) or frequency of oscillation of the switching supply (26-48Khz - ultrasonic) is drying up and changing value. A good tech can fix either. Most likely the big filter cap is bad, and AC (60hz) is getting thru and causing the transistor to switch erratically. This is a easy fix and the TRANSISTOR and CAP are $3.00 parts

Or the inverter in the LCD is biting the bullet. If you turn down the brightness, does it stay on or click on and off? THAT would be the inverter. Inverters take 5, 12 or 24v from the powersupply and run the itty-tiny pencil-sized florescent lamps that light up your screen. Lamps are $8.00 and inverters can be $50-80, but ebay has them for alot less

Hopes that helps

Flashing green LED on my Hanns-G HX191D

Common problems on monitors are due to capacitors in the power supply/inverter circuits failed, you need to open it up and look inside for caps with bulging top/seal first and post back what you see so we can guide you further, see failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

I have a ViewSonic VX2025wm who works for only 2 sec after going black when it's working with VGA. I ordered a cable for DVI to see if it works on DVI. my question: is the whole monitor damaged or just...

First I will try it on another PC using the same VGA cable. The problem will more likely to be failure in the power supply due to bad caps, or bad inverter circuits, or worst case will be bad lamps. See example of failed VIEWSONIC due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Flashing screen

It seems that it is a hardware issue with the monitor, as it does the same thing with different PC. You can check the VGA cable going on the back of the Monitor as it may have a loose connection. It may be due to the connector, which is not getting placed properly, you can try changing the monitor VGA cable. OR need to send it for repair, but repair will cost around $50+, you may get another monitor by adding a little more to ie.

Shrey

AL2423W flashes 'No Signal' and turns off and on

Hi Guys,
This is a common problem with this monitor but I have a fix. Sounds simple but try it it works. Turn your monitor off, then turn it off at the wall, turn your monitor back on to drain any stored power, now turn it back on at the wall and fire the pc up and see how you go.

Compaq Monitor FS7600e - 17" monitoor

the -ve ground voltage decreased when u saw the screen goes white.if it flash too much then may be the front phosphorus coating burn due to excess whiteness suddenly. if that is ok then check the the G1 voltage , they are in excess, follow the track and replace the components after checking. also check the heater voltage and screen voltage (G2) ( do not touch the G2 voltage without insulation. they must be between 500-1000 volts. if they are disappears then check the EHT transformer. if the problem still prisist then inform me, i will guide u step by step.

Screen blacking in and out

Hi Esdee, Don't be too surprised if the monitor is having problems. The fact that it does the same thing on another PC is pretty good proof that is in fact the monitor. As far as what is going on the green power LED going on and off in conjunction with the blackouts indicates a power problem to me. - Does wiggling the power cords, plugs cause any change? - When the screen blacks out shine a flashlight on the screen and look to see if you can see any faint images. If you do then you have a backlight problem. If none of this works any further troubleshooting really requires some experience working around electronics and high voltage. Let us know how you want to proceed, as as always please don't forget to rate this posting.
