Usually means its dirty inside and the eye cannot read whichever is inside. can try getting an electronics cleaner ( dry air) and spraying it inside. it may help blow the grime off the reading mechanism.

Error 0a-0224-0000

Dear Vincent,

The 0A-0224-0000 is a "File Copy Failed" error. It means that either the computer was not able to read from the CD/DVD or it finished reading from one CD/DVD and was expecting to read data from the next one (when you have two or more recovery CDs/DVDs). If you have more than one recovery CD/DVD, as soon as you see the CD/DVD reader LED (light) stop flashing, eject the CD and insert the next one in the sequence, doing so till all recovery CDs/DVDs have been read.

If you cannot eject the DVDs by pressing the eject button (some DVD writers only allow you to eject the disc after finishing the whole operation) you will have to straighten up a paper clip and insert it in the small hole close to the eject button to force it open and change the CD or DVD (do a Google search for "how to open a CD or DVD drive with a paperclip, in order to better understand how to do it)".

Hope this helps!

Cd drive wont eject

Try ejecting it through "My Computer". Right click on the drive and select "eject". If you can't locate the drive, then it's probably missing the driver.

Dvd in in player and won't eject. screen reads "loading".

Try unplugging the unit and plugging it back in after a couple of minutes, if cd still won't come out you can unplug the unit and manually remove the cd by taking the outer casing off.

Loads dvd tries reading ejects dvd

Run DVD/CD cleaner CD using 2 drops of solvent on the brushes and run the cleaner CD twice, the last one being a dry one. If the DVD's are not scratched they will definitely play....sodeep

Pioneer DVD R/RW drive DVR-K17LA not reading

Normally no drivers are needed for CD drives other than the ones built into Windows. It might be a dirty lens that is causing the trouble. When the tray opens on a laptop CD drive the lens is exposed and can get touched or exposed to dirt. Try gently cleaning it with a cotton swab to brush off the lens. If the problem continues, the laser may have worn out and is too weak to read now. You can find replacement drives online, or use a USB plug-in external drive.
