Question about Mitsubishi WT-46809 46" Rear Projection Television

Mitsubishi rear projection no picture and static sound

When first turned on, there is usually no picture and just static sound, the dvd player plays just fine though. After having the TV on the picture and sound eventually come back on for the rest of the day with no problems. The time it takes for it to come on seems to be taking longer and longer also. I did the diagnosis test and it came back as 1-2 code.. which seems to be no error deteted... what could be the problem?

    The cable box doesn't seem to have anything to do with this problem. When the screen goes black, it goes black on both Ant A and Ant B inputs on the TV, sometimes I'm able to see faint white static horizontal lines across the screen with the black. I've tried bypassing the cable box and messing with the coax cable but no luck on fixing the issue.

    Good day, Hoze_1979;

    It may be signal source, do you have cable/sat box? Try resetting the box or put signal into same input as DVD.

    If TV okay after switch you may have bad input, if still bad then change "box".

    Good Luck, big IRISH.

Good Day, Hoze_1979;

Please try this; from the back of the cable box there will be "out put" connectors, they will say VIDEO and AUDIO OUTPUT. The connectors will be color coded; yellow,red and white, y for video, r&w for audio.

Now on the back of your TV plug said cable to one of your inputs like you did for the DVD player. This will bypas your tuner circuits. Let me know, ok?

Good Luck, big IRISH.

I assume you are using a cable input, such as a box or the main Cable line connected directly to the TV. examine the main Cable Coax, look at the copper wire that sticks out from the connecter, make sure it is long enough, if its to short, gently pull it with a long nose plier until it reaches the rim of the connector. Sometimes when connecting the coax to a source, the copper wire in the coax is to short to make contact, and as a result you get no signal. Hope this solved your problem.

No picture or sound

Have you checked the bulb? That's the most common cause of loss of picture, and in some models (I'm not sure about yours) if the bulb is out it also doesn't play sound. Since the DVD sound comes in a different port, it may be still playing that. I'm not saying it definitely is the bulb, but that is the most likely scenario, and easiest to fix (just replace the bulb).

Only one input works (component1) but no sound. the speakers are on, and when the volume is turned all the way up you here noise. input or no

make sure whatever you are hooking up to the input has a good output. Meaning....if you are hooking up a dvd player and it is playing a disc, make sure it has audio out of the dvd player usually the red for right channel and white for left channel. Also make sure in the menu on the dvd player you have analog audio selected so as to have sound coming thur to the tv. Keep in mind another way to check the audio of the tv is to use a mp3 player or your iphone.. Just need 1/8" jack from iphone to red and white RCA male jacks to hook to tv to test. Hope this gets you closer to solving your problem.

Static in the picture

Light static in picture is usually caused by a bad cable connector.
- things to check/questions:
Does it happen with all sources DVD, VCR ?
Are you on Antenna, Cable, Cable box or Satellite?
Does it happen on all Channels?
Do you use the cable input or audio video inputs?
The problem is usually not serious and is usually external to the TV

We have sound but no picture i have sound but no picture. when you change inputs the word input is doubled up and distorted

There were not much info in the manual but it did suggest trying this.
1st- Unplug for a few minutes and then plug it back in. Or use the reset button look it up in the manual. MANUAL

2nd- Blank screen troubleshooting

• If you're trying to watch TV, change channels or press the ANTENNA button to switch tuners.
• If you're trying to watch something that's playing on a component connected to the TV (like a DVD or a VCR tape), press the TV
button on the remote, then press INPUT until you get to the correct video input channel.
• If you're trying to watch a component (like your DVD player or VCR), make sure the component connected to the TV is turned on.
• If you're trying to watch a component (like your DVD player or VCR), make sure the component is connected correctly.

Post back if non of these ideas work and explain if there are any lights flashing or changing colors on the front where the green light usually is. A fixya rating would be appreciated, thank you for stopping by Fixya!

Most likely a high voltage leak. Is the static on menus as well? If there is a leak of high voltage, you should be able to hear it as well. Some of these sets leaked coolant from the picture tubes. A close visual inspection of all printed circuit boards should reveal this.
