Question about Acer Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I want to purchase the TM 3270, but it only has 1GB. I'd really like to have 2GB, but can't afford the extra cost, seems to be 300 more . So, I wondered how you add 1 GB to the 3270??? Cost of doing that? Thanks, Julie

Okay, I don't believe someone wants 300 more for an extra GB. You can upgrade it to 4 GB for just over $100, 2 GB is around $52. On the bottom of the laptop will be a compartment with one or maybe two screws in it. There should be a little picture of memory next to the screw(s). Loosen the screws and remove the door, there is your memory. You may have to remove a chip to install the 2 GB chip or, if it already has a 1 GB chip in it and one slot is free, then you can just purchase another GB and install it.

How much would it cost to run this computer for 24 hours? just an estimate is fine

Hi,

Wattage is simply calculated by multiplying voltage by amperage. Look on the back of your system, and it will say how many amps the system uses. Often, it will also provide the wattage. For instance, the back of a ViewSonic E220 is 2.5A at 120V - ~300 Watts/Hr. An average rate is 10 cents per kilowatt hour, or 3 cents per hour to leave your monitor on. or 72 cents per day.

A computer system can use between 150 and 600 or more watts per hour. Together, it could cost between $20 and $60 a month

Upgrading memory from 512mb to 2gb but the memory i have seen says 800MHz yet i have seen somewhere on my computer 533MHz is this something else?also i can go to 4gb would this be to big a step and a waste...

upgrading to 2GB will have a significant increase in speed, the jump from 2GB to 4 GB will be faster but the additional speed increase will be less than the 512 to 2 GB jump. In my book, get as much RAM as you can afford, for go with 4 GB. THe 533 Front side bus is set by the processor installed on the MB, using 800 Mhz RAM will have no ill effect as it is backwards compatible to 533

I have a Dell 8250 Dimension desktop. What would I need to buy to increase my memory?

I'l be flat out honest here, it is not economically practicable to upgrade the RAM in that system due to the use of RAMBUS RAM.

RAMBUS Modules in any significant size can cost more than a replacement computer that is currently available. There is also the MAX RAM limitation of 2GB for the motherboard.

Best Deal I could find is 2GB (4 x 512s) for $200

You could buy a new Inspiron 570 that will run circles around the 8250 for $300

Best gaming desktop configuration for 700$

dell has a good deal on a studio desktop pc Core 2 duo quad core but even without the monitor its 550, then you have to add a good video card, integrated cards are garbage and so is intel, so the good ones are anout $100-300 intel and amd

to keep cost down you could also go with a core 2 duo (dual core) but stay away from celerons they **** for gaming
check staples/office max/best buy/circuit city or dell dot com for good deals

some dell studio's are slim desktops and unless you get a video card from dell they can be hard to find(near impossible)

I have bought a HP550 laptop product code FS328AA. I also bought an extra Kingston 2GB RAM. When I put the extra memory I get the srceen of death. What is wrong?

this means either the memory is corrupt, which is possible even with new units especially if you weren't careful when installing. Or, the memory is the wrong speed. What did you buy 1 2gb?

From the manufacture it comes with a 1 year warranty. It is possible the store may offer a 3 year extended warranty for extra cost. But just from the manufacture it is only 1 year.
