My Canon MX700 worked fine yesterday but today I keep getting a 306 error message. I just downloaded and installed the newest printer driver. It's still listed on the network printers. There is no paper jam and I opened the covers as well as turned it off then on. I am running Mac OS 10.5.8. The only thing that is different from yesterday is that I installed new firmware on the Time Capsule (7.5.2).

You need to download and update the printer software ... Visit the Canon site and navigate to software/product updates ... Download and install and you will have no problems ... Be sure to enter correct product details ...
I just came up with the same problem. But if you keep pressing the right most button (the red one) for 5 seconds the message "replace ink cartridge" disappears and then you can use it as a scanner.
Open the top of the printer as if you were going to change the ink cartridge and push the cartridge to the left. Reach your hand inside and see if the paper from the jam is truly out of there. Sometimes when you pull the paper out the front or back from a paper jam there can still be something stuck inside that is gumming up the works.
I had the same problem.
Adding twain_32.dll to the Windowsfolder solved the problem.
For people who don't want to search for it: Look Here. Then you won't get this error but one saying to reinstall the printer driver. Just do it and the problem is solved.
I had this problem just a few minutes ago. The way to get through this is to plug in the USB cable *before* you begin the installation. When Windows detects a device and ask for drivers you need to click cancel for each device (printer, fax, scanner, etc) that it prompts for.
Run the installation disc or file as normal with the USB cable plugged in and it should work. It worked for me.
