I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A Konica Minolta MAGICOLOUR 8650DN MACHINE WITH THE FS-519 FINISHER. TAKEN THE FINISHER OUT OF THE BOX AND FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS TO ATTACH IT TO THE PRINTER. WE USED THE PRINTER AS A STAND ALONE FOR AWHILE, SO I KNOW THE PRINTER ITSELF IS FINE. ONCE ATTACHED AND BOOTED UP, THE TOP OF THE MACHINE MAKES A TERRIBLE CLATTERING NOISE AND HAS GIVEN OUT TWO ERROR CODES, THE FIRST C-11BO, THEN C-1183. THE SOUND IS COMING FROM THE NEWLY ADDED UNIT ON TOP OF THE MACHINE. WE HAVE BEEN CAREFUL TO FOLLOW THE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS TO THE 'T'. I HAVE OPENED AND SHUT THE FRONT DOOR, MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS? REGARDS, JIM

C11BO Did you remove the screw that secures the stapler during shipment. Open Front door if the stapler is unable to move. Turn the green know. Remove the screw. Also check a make sure that stapler cartridge is full engaged in the stapler.

C1183 The bottom exit tray is not engaging the top sensors. Remove the the back cover. Looking at the back of the finisher. In the upper right is Motor that drives the bottom tray there is a White gear assy. (FIRST IF YOU DIS ENGAGE THE White gear the TRAY WILL SLAM TO THE BOTTOM) so when you dis-engage (Pull the gear part be sure the prevent the tray from falling down. I used my knee:) Be careful the grease is nasty. Now raise the tray to just bearly touching the sensors where it can go no further. If not then you might have a bad motor or finisher board. Also check the two sensors that tell you the bottom tray is full. They are across from each other at the back of the tray front and rear.

C1183 is for Finishing Option Elevator Drive Failure. Most of the time when I see this code it is because 1 or both bins are not fully inserted into their slots. The bins when all the way in will trip small switches to tell the machine where the bins are. In your case this may not be true due to the noise you are hearing unless the elevator has already driven the unit all the way to the top or bottom.
C11BO is for Finishing Option Stapler Unit CD Drive failure. I have never seen this code come up before but as you can see, both of these codes are coming from the Finishing Option which you have just installed. It is very possible that the unit has some shipping or other damage and there is nothing you have done wrong. If it were just the C1183 I would feel differently.
I would start by checking the stapling unit and make sure that you got the packing tape and materials out of the inside of the finisher that hold the stapling unit during shipping. Most likely the 1183 code was from the bins but I am not sure of that as it could also be a shipping damage issue. Hope this helps!
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

C1183 error Konica Minolta fs-519 Finisher

Code is on the Copier, but I digress. Did someone leave a trash can or boxes under the output trays. To solve this problem requires removal of the rear cover of the finisher. Then remove the elevation drive motor assemble. Be careful don't want the output trays to fall!!!!!! Then while placing them in their proper position re seat the drive assy. The top tray should be just below the orange rollers (If they are cleaned) you will see several accurators the trays has to just touch them.

Can you give me step by step instructions on how to install the finisher for my konica minolta 8020. I bought the copier and decided to get the finisher and cannot figure out how to set it up.

Listen before I devolve my secret are you a dealer or an end-user, I am a konica dealer and I would hate to take food out of my dealers mouth cause an end-user refuses to call a dealer for help, and where is your machine located.

Bizhub Konica Minolta - Error Code C1183

First check the alignment front and rear of the finisher, check the finisher exit guide rollers if the paper is exiting properly, open both rear and the front cover and check the lower gears attach is the up/down drive belt. that lower gear one might be broken by the pin slot.
