HP Deskjet 932C printer will only print in magenta

I tried the recommendation of prosoft1 to soak the bottom of the ink cartridge. That did not solve the problem, so I tried the advice from popziv to clean out the accumulated ink in the reservoir to the right under the control buttoms. Nothing has remedied the problem. My printer will still only print in black and magenta. I tried a new color cartridge and that does the same thing--only prints magenta.

Any more ideas--because those suggestions did not fix my printer.

All right now--I have the answer to my own (printer only prints in magenta despite installation of new ink cartridge) problem. I returned the new tri-color ink cartridge ("store brand" reconditioned by the big "depot" store) to the store since the box said 100% satisfaction guaranteed. They replaced the defective ink cartridge with another store brand cartridge. That one worked. They stood behind their guarantee, but the cartridge I just purchased is the HP brand. Need I say more???

I use a small diameter silicone tube tocarefully "prime" stubborn new carts by sucking a drop of ink out ofthe tiny print holes in the printhead part of the cart. Ink can dry at the headand since these carts work by electrical excitation, there needs to be liquidof each color at the holes. Slap a drop of water with your finger on the holesto start easy hesitant ones. Do not get the contacts wet.

Our hp deskjet 932C printer is leaking ink. What

You could carefully clean this as follows:
put the printer on some newspaper to avoid further spills.
Turn on the printer, then open the lid to allow the carriage to move to the center.
Now unplug the printer, then gently move the carriage to the left and out of the way.
You should now have limited access to the spittoon area.
You can clean this area by carefully scooping out the ***** of ink with a plastic spoon. (Be careful not to drop ink sludge on your printer, desk, carpet or clothing.)
Once most of the ink has been removed then use a crumpled paper towel to soak up the ink in the bottom of the service station.
It may take several rounds of this to clean up the service station.
It is not necessary to completely clean the service station, just get the majority of the ink out.
Once this has been completed you could turn the printer up and clean the bottom area of the printer. Do not tip up the printer before the service station has been cleaned or you are likely to create a mess....

It acts likes it's printing, but nothing is on the pages HP Deskjet 932c

Sounds like a defective ink cartridge. See if you have a separate print head you can replace if not sounds like a whole new cartridge.
Assuming you have checked the obvious darkness settings.

Just took my old hp deskjet 932c out of the garage.

What many people do not realize is that an ink cartridge and printhead must be used on a regular basis to function properly. Recommendation is a few pages each week. If not, the liquid ink will dry and block the nozzles. First course of action is to purchase new ink cartridges. If this does not work, than purchase new printheads. However, it would be less expensive in the long run to just buy a new ink printer with the cost of ink printers being as low as they are.

Popular Mechanics did an article on this very subject a few years ago and there is a software program on the market that will automatically print a page or two every week to prevent this problem.

1220c Ink blockage

Sometimes the nozzles get clogged. If several normal cleaning cycles do not clear all the nozzles, next try removing the cartridge and setting it, nozzle-side down, on a steaming-hot damp paper towel for a few minutes, then running a cleaning cycle. If this doesn't solve the problem, as a last-ditch effort the head can be soaked in a shallow dish of alcohol for a few minutes. This cleared up a clog for me that no other method would solve, but I have heard that if soaked too long in alcohol, the head may be damaged.
