My wireless router only worrks when you are right by it

Strange, as these modems tend to have a pretty decent wireless signal strength. Try changing the channel your modem broadcasts on. If you surf to 192.168.1.1 you'll be able to visit the modem interface, where you can change this setting.

My icon says I only have 80% signal strength, is

80% is a good signal strength....but if you want to increase the signal strength, then you need to move the wireless router to a very ventilated area, also the router should be placed atleast 5 feet away from other electronic devices like, modem, ups, microwave ovens, refrigerators etc.... also there should be a line of sight between the router and the wi-fi adapter... but in order to connect to a wireless network 25% of signal strength is enough....

hi it is simple to connect to the wireless network using the belkin adapter.
You can switch over to the windows utility. that should work. it does not work then try to uninstall and reinstall the adapter.

Belkin N1 MIMO Wireless Router dropping it's wireless signal.

You can try configure only 802.11 n. Change wep or wpa, test again.

This issue no solved, turn off your wireless router, and search other signal around your room with his pc´s or notebooks wireless. If you see many networks wireless, check the channel less network and put your router this channel.

Test again and see solved this issue.

Good Luck!
