Question about Sanyo FXCD-500 RB CD/Cassette Receiver with CD Changer Control (Factory Refurbished)

4 Answers

Stuck CD I have the above model in my car and I love it. However I tried to insert a CD this morning without having started the car. Now the CD is stuck and I can't even turn on the radio. I do not have the Unlock Levers. The dealer must have kept them. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Judi_Broyles@yahoo.com Phone: 408-666-7735

I really would like to have a more specific answer as to why the radio and tape player does not work. Simply telling me that I need to take it in for repair does not justify the addition $9.99 I have just added to my credit card.

I was able to remove the CD yesterday. When I reassembled the unit, nothing works. What is happpening to all the emails that I have been sending? Isn't anyone reading them?

  • Judi_Broyles Jul 07, 2008

I don't know what is going on here, but the CD came out easlily in one piece, the fuse is fine, the unit will not utrn on. If the unit is security protected, can it be reset? Would removing the face plate (not the cover) cause that to happen?

  • Judi_Broyles Jul 07, 2008

I've already done that. According to the manual, it was fuse number 9 and it is just fine. there is no break in the wire and any signs of furning.

Judi:

What is happening to your emails is that they are being posted separately. I am going through them now, and will be back with more info shortly.

Judi, what exactly did you do to verify that the fuse was OK?

  • Cheryl Whalen Jul 05, 2008

    Judi,

I have read all your emails. A few questions -

Could you please work through these steps with me? I will be glad to help, but I need to verify the exact nature of what was done.

The key may lie in the first question here, but if not, we'll work through the others. When you removed the face plate, was there a screw attached to the side of the unit? (This is used for "front panel fixing".) So, you would have had to remove the screw to remove the plate - was that the case?

When you removed the face plate, did it come off easily, or was there any difficulty involved?

How much force was applied to remove the CD after the face plate was removed?

When you returned the face plate to its position, did you align the right side with the stopper, and then when pushing in the left side, did you get a click sound to confirm proper placement?

  • Cheryl Whalen Jul 05, 2008

    Judi -

I hope you have gotten this information. If the unit had the fixing screw on the side and it was removed in order to remove the face plate, this will cause the unit NOT to power on. The insertion of that screw is part of the anti-theft protection package.

Further, without the unlock levers, if any more was done to the unit in regard to removal than simply detaching the face plate (without a screw), this would likewise trigger the antitheft protection to come into play.

Please post back if you have received this data, and we will proceed as you like.

    Thank you.

If the cd is broken in the unit you will have to remave the broken particles or they can damage the reading lens of your unit.or if stuck in the unit, you will have to open the the unit and remove the cd if its not coming normally do not force or pull to remove it will damage the unit.if you are able to open the unit try your self if not possible then you have to call some service person to make it clear.

I would check the computer data for the engine coolant temperature sensor before starting it in the morning. If the sensor is not reading the correct temperature, it could cause the symptoms you are describing.

Eject button just beeps and cds wont come out or change. i diconnected the baterry for a few minutes then reconnected it to see if the computer would reset and allow me to get them out. now the cd player...

Try inserting another disc without actually inserting it. What I mean is try to fake out the player by inserting another disc, let it start to grab and pull it out before it gets sucked in. This will hopefully trick it into thinkig there is a disc in it so the no disc error goes away. Then try ejecting as normal.

Good Luck

hope this helps

I have a cd stuck in the cd drive of a dell laptop - it cannot be viewed on screen and there is no drawer - just a slot. There is no hole to insert a paper clip etc. Can you help?

Try booting to the Bios and press the F2 key once in the bios, this sometimes works with Dell laptops.
If this does not work, and with the laptop unplugged, take an old credit card or similar and push it gently into the slot trying to get underneath the stuck CD, you may be able to pop it off the spindle. If you feel it freeing, get a pair of thin nosed pliers and push them into the slot until you feel the edge of the cd, gently pull it out.

Or you can put some double sided tape on one edge of the credit card and insert it as above, once it frees from the spindle, wiggle the card and you may get the CD to come out attached to the card.

If the above does not work, you will need to remove the base cover, remove the cd retaining screw and dismantle the drive to remove it

I have a jbl 6 cd system in my toyota..."error 3" popped up this morning after i ejected and cd and tried to load one back in...does that mean a cd is stuck? how can it be fixed? thanx steve

ERROR 3 on this model is fairly common and normally means that there is a CD jammed? Has that CD got a paper label or warped?
The only way that removing the CD without damaging the unit is to remove the head unit and either get it out yourself or take it in to the workshop.

There is a cd stuck in my cd player, how can I get it out?

Try pressing the reset button. This sometimes helps eject the disc. If not i have found that by holding a second disc slightly above the stuck cd and very gently pressing down on the stuck cd, it can help eject the stuck disc. DO NOT INSERT A SECOND DISC. there is also a possibilty that the ejecting mechanisim is broken in that case taking in to the repair man would be the wise choice.

as the interior transport mechanism is plastic, you would be better off buying a new unit, the cost of repair is stupid.and unless you are an electronic genius, not worth repairing.

I have an E03 error on my Rockford Fosgate CD player in my Eclipse. Anything I can do without taking into the dreaded dealer?

You must take it to your dealership. I think this may be a problem with the actual player. I am on CD player number 3 (2 times it has "eaten" my CD's without spitting them out, showing the E03 message), and mine about 2 months ago came up again with the E03 message. When I took it in again to the local mitsubishi dealership, the service guy actually had the nerve to ask me if I inserted an "aftermarket CD". I asked him what the heck that was. He explained it was a burned CD. When I told him, no, that it was stuck on a commercial book on CD, he *******. The players are on backorder, which indicates to me that a lot of people are having this problem and they are working to resolve it (if I ever get it). If I don't get mine replaced for free again soon, then I'm going to file a lawsuit over unfit for particular use, especially considering it says Mp3 player on the face of the changer. I find it difficult to believe that it would then eat Mp3 CDs. I think this may just be a factory-wide problem with these, and would love to know if others have the same problem? I know we have other issues with our Eclipse like the paint, etc.

PHILIPS CDR 606 RECORDER. I was useing the above machine till yesterday without any problem at all. Today i keep getting message "insert CD" after i have put a cd in.. I have tried differnt...

Either the optics have failed or the lens is dirty. Try opening up the unit and cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Basically the unit can not read the disk and is requesting that you insert one. If the cleaning fails to resolve the problem, you will need to have the optics replaced.

gant really help on the sd prob.sd usually push in to insert and push in again to remove.
cant imagine how you can get cd stuck between rom and chassis.anyway if you look closely at your rom you will see a small hole.you push a thin piece of wire into this to eject the rom hopefully giving you more room to play with and remove disk.a paperclip made straight is an ideal tool for this.
as for repair;tell me your model and i'll check to see if I have it
