I just realised I may have made a mistake , I see now that your sony motherboard is the Sony VIAO P4 PCV-RS712

integrated audio , which should be AC97 codec driver. but specific to sony viao

try this and check their download drivers link

    put in your specific model

let me know if you find the driver there.

Ok I admit to messing up yet again on your problem.

I love a challenge. and love to correct my own errors and admit when I've made a mistake.

This information should get you going.

Vaio RS-52MV. It has the same Asus P4SD-VL motherboard

The both use the Vinyl AC97 Audio Codec a common chip , and the driver package is easy to find on the net , let me know if you don't find it , I'll get you links if nessessary.

    Shalom :-D

I actually took it to a computer store, and they got the audio working, but not 100%. My volume is now the "wave" button and not the master volume, and I can't get my bottons on my keyboard for the volume and mute and stuff to work. But I do have sound. I can I tell wich driver they installed to make sure it's the right one? I' don't think it is, otherwise things would be as they were before, and I also want to save the driver to cd so that if I do have to reformat again, I'll have it saved to install.

My windows xp computer does not have the sound drivers after reformating. How do i get the sound to work?

Just post me back the brand/model of your computer (or if it's an none manufacture post the motherboard's brand/model) and I'll get you to download and install the audio drivers that are missing.

I reformated my pc and when it was done i downloaded the usual applicatons i was going to watch a movie which i watched before and i couldn't hear a sound what do i do.............?,,,,,,,where can i...

Do you know what type of your motherboard..if you know, then you can googling(google) your driver..if you dont know, then you can try update using device manager.

I'm very sure when you view device manager, your adapater will have problem with driver..

Picture show device manager that have problem
(actually, i think your device manager also like this)
You see question mark icon (?) here with yellow?

that mean driver wasn't compatible with that device or it still don't have driver for that.

Right click at that icon, properties
then,window will pop up
find driver tab
and update..
it will need more time and internet connection

2nd solution:
you see the name for your device right?
write their name and number full/complete..
and google .find driver..

Just reformated my computer and now can not get the speakers to work . I do not have an install disc. What can i do to fix this problem?

gfo to the computer manufacturer's website and look up the computer by model and/or serial number, and download the proper "audio driver" for your operating system. it may be alternatively labeled as "ac97" or "realtec" or possibly something i have never heard of.

My computer was reformated, but I cant use my Multi media becuse there is no audio device which the program asking for, what shall i do

Not sure if you are saying you dont have a sound card installed or if when you try to play a movie it says it cant play the audio. if it is the later then i advise you intall a few codec packs. starting with divx, then community codec pak, and ac3 filter. these are the most common codecs required for most of the audio in media files. if it asking for an actual hardware sound insure that you have direct x installed as the media center in windows vista uses direct audio to paly the audio tracks in media files.

No audio driver installed after reformatting my PC

Direct sound is actually referring to Direct X drivers. Do a search for Direct X drivers and download and install the correct ones for your sound card and operating system. Also, if you think your sound card drivers maybe part of the problem go to the Sound Card manufacturer website and download the drivers for your sound card and operating system.

No audio

I would say that you should install WinXP SP3 (if you are using WinXP) or Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver from Microsoft and then restart computer, it should work. here is the link for UAA Driver
And for WinXP SP3
try one of the link, it should work.

Take care.

Were can i install drivers for my speaker. i have just reformated and the speakers don't work

Speakers don't have drivers.
You need drivers for the audio/sound adapter in your computer that the speakers plug into.

If the speakers plug into an add-on card, open the case and note the make and model of the card. Go to the manufacturer's website, download and install the audio driver.

If the speakers plug into the motherboard (e.g. the plug is situated near the computer's USB, keyboard and mouse plugs) then you need to look up the system or motherboard at the manufacturer's website and get the driver from them.

I hope this helps.

Laptop sound card not working properly

You can try the Manufacturer's support site to download the audio driver you need to get your sound going. A Microsoft update choosing the custom install might show the driver under the additional hardware downloads.

I would have tried to point you directly to the driver, but you did not post the Make or Model of the Laptop?
