Yes, Sony's Nav-U is a partial solution since map updates and a proprietary map format make it useless after a couple of years.
I would avoid purchasing any of the NAV-U products unless Sony indicates someway to get map updates.

I inquired of Sony about map updates for my navu-73T after realizing several routes took me way out of the way. I was told "Unfortunately, map updates are not available for your Sony GPS Navigation System at present. If available, it can be purchased from our Parts and Accessories Sales Web site or from the Sony Style Web site. " They provided this site:

Only shows us routes not canada

I fell foul of that the other way. I have Canada maps and lent it to a friend who was going to California.

You need a map that covers Canada and it is an extra cost. The USA is in two zones, or one map does both zones.

You need to buy the Canada maps and then put it on an SD card. The map costs $84

Down loading Europe on my TomTom 1/3

Yes you can I have europe and canada on mine.

just plug your tomtom into your computer and start tomtom home

On the computer screen for tomtom select ADD MAPS

Here you can select and buy the maps you need.

Once you have confirmed the purchase you will be given instructions on how to download etc

Some maps may take a little time to install to the tomtom itself.

you should also ensure there is enough space on your tomtom
If not you will have to get an SD memory card.

I use a 4gb one that still has lots of room to spare

GPS (Europe) work in Canada?

Unfortunately you cannot install Sony North American maps on your GPS but you can add another GPS application as iGO8 etc.
Let me know if you decide to sell your GPS here in Canada.

Tomtom one 125 map

The reason the 125 is cheaper is because it only has the US map on it. Each map contains an activation file that prevents it from being used on different devices, so its doubtful that the other map will work for you. You can purchase the latest Canada/Alaska map from TomTom's site for $59.95.

Go to
http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/

Select your device as the ONE 130 (since they don't have 125 on the site) and choose the Canada/Alaska map.

Map download

you need a cd with New Zealand maps. I suspect the cd you have has canada maps.
Call MIO and ask if they ever had New Zealnd maps.

Tomtom One 3rd edition - no SD slot and not enough memory

You could probably just manually delete the Canada/USA maps from the device, and copy over the europe (or whichever ones you need) to the device.
Just plug it in, and view the memory like a normal usb drive..delete the old, copy over the new.
Don't forget to use tomtom home to backup your gps device to your computer first (thus saving your canada maps for later..)
Afterwards, you would probably have to go into your preferences and choose the europe maps.
Good luck!
