Question about Dishwashers

3 Answers

Inglis MOD#IPU58460 Dishes not cleaned properly...thought that enough water was not being filled into tub because more water added manually and washes great! I checked inlet water valve operation and lines for possible lime buildup and timed "fill" time. All was good and time right to spec! Water level after fill is just to bottom of mesh screens. Under further trouble shooting I held door open slightly while holding door switch closed to observe wash cycle and found as pump starts water shoots up at center of bottom wash arm and arm only shoots little out spray hole and turns slightly than stop as pump seems to lack water and than repeats this over and over again which would to me explain the poor cleaning. Could it be possible a part or seal is missing where retaing nut holds washing arm in place?? There is the plastic bearing clip under the wash arm and a smaller plastic ring clip on top under the retaining nut which do not fit tight together. There is 1/4 inch or more play or movement of wash arm and maybe this is normal, I am not sure. What I am trying to say is I think so much water is being lost up the center of the arm that the pump looses pressure or prime and starts again once enough water returns to the bottom of the tub and than this cycle just keeps repeating itself. If you have any suggestions or answers for this problem it would be greatly apreciated! Thankyou, Bryan.

I think you hit it right on the head with a seal missing. The water should be coming from the spray hole at the end of the arm and not the middle. The entire arm will need replaced, once this happens the base of the arm is worn and a new seal won't hold long.

HI,

The problem can be with not enough water to get the arm to spin. To test this just add a pan of water to the wash cycle and see if the arm spins. If it does then the problem may be with the water intake line. There is a screen at the connection where the intake line enters the dishwasher. So turn the supply valve off and disconnect the intake line and remove particles that may be traped in the screen. The cause of the particles is from the hot water tank that tend to accumulate a bit of corrosion on the bottom of tank. To remedy this just open the valve at the bottom of the hot water tank and drain it in a pan until the water is clear.

Few more reasons for the dishes not cleaning properly are:

    1) water temperature is not high enough

    2) your detergent is inadequate

    3) you are over-crowding or improperly loading the machine.

My dishwasher will not clean anything. It starts the programme and then constantly beeps. HELP!

Hello

Check the water temperature. Should be 125 to 140 F. (this is important.. check your hot water heater to make sure that it is turned up well enough to give out hot water)

Check pump re-circulation., Listen, see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.

Check water level when the fill cycle has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.

Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks.

Check to make sure dishwasher is draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom of the tub.

Make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

Possibly try a different detergent. Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles

ALSO.. if you had the manual whilch you can get free, check in the manual to find out what is wrong if dishes do not come out clean

Dishes aren't cleaning. Filling with water, rinsing then draining, refilling with water -- hot, soap released. When dishes come out, barely clean. Used to work like a charm... Thoughts?

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

Bosch Dishwasher - Model SHU43C07UC --- intermitently shuts off during wash cycle -- restarts later, sometimes several hours later and then finishes cyc'e

Cold water is the only type of water that fills your tub. The machine looks like it stops because it is waiting for the water heater to heat the water in your machine to a highert temperature, enough to get your dishes clean. On that model you can't say very often that your dishes don't get clean.

The dishes don't come out clean after complete cycle or even after I re did the wash.

Has it always been okay in the past? Do you have the manual, and if so, are you loading it properly. I am not familiar with this particular machine, however there are a few things you can check. Make certain all the spray arms are spinning freely. If there is a "tower" that comes up from the bottom, be certain nothing is blocking the center portion of the bottom rack. Run a load as normal, but stop it after a few minutes. Is there water in the tub and are the dishes wet? If not, determine if the water source is on, and the "fill" solenoid is working. If there is water, and all dishes appear to be getting wet, be certain you are getting a lot of "water action" during the wash. If you listen closely, you should hear a sloshing sound as the machine runs. If not, your not getting enough water circulating. The pump may be clogged, or perhaps there is not enough water coming in. Is your water pressure high enough to fill it completely? I hope I have given you enough things to check in order to lead you to the problem. Let me know.

Dishwasher does not clean the dishes properly

Hi

First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

GE Dishwasher - poor cleaning

I believe there is a screen/filter on the water line before or at the water fill valve. If that gets plugged it can restrict the flow. The fill valve can also fail/get plugged and restrict the flow.
Also, dishwashers usually have a level sensor to tell when there is enough water to do the wash. It may be a float inside the tub that operates a mechanical switch or it may have a hose to a pressure sensor. Either type can get greasy/dirty/plugged and as a result cause improper water levels.
Check both the water supply filter/fill valve and the level sensor. One or both of those may be involved.

Dishwasher detergent does not dissolve entirely. Gel is still on side and powerball tabs doe not dissolve. Dishes are not clean. It sounds like it goes through the cycles properly.

1. No waterMake sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

2. Not enough water
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

3. Clogged spay arms
There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.

4. Water temperature is too low
To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.

5. Not enough soap
If you only fill one part of the soap cup, try adding soap to both parts.

6. Smoky film on dishes and glasses
This problem occurs due to excessive calcium build up inside the dishwasher. Try cleaning you dishwasher using a dishwasher cleaner.
