First check, in there a room thermostat fitted. If not look at the boiler timer if a circular clock type move the side slider to gentral position and set the timed pins do that when the clock face rotates the pins operate the boiler heating on switch OR if a digital type press the button marked mode to so that on the display there indicator bar moves to the on position.

Just moved into a new house with old heating system. not sure what some of the switches do? or how to set up heating & hot water timer etc?

Need to know a few things first. What kind of heating to you have? Fuel used to heat? Instructions on setting things up are available online from the manufacturer.

Pump runs 5 minutes and stops

Move the slide switch to ON.
Open following link for recirculation system resources.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html

The recirculation can work on either the timer or the thermostat using slide switch located next to the timer dial.
First of all, look to see if dial is rotating as time passes.
Next look at position of slide switch. If switch is moved to 'timer,' then the timer controls the on-off function for pump.
Move the pins located on timer dial to control on-off times.
If the switch is moved to ON, then the thermostat controls the pump, and turns on until temperature in pipe reaches 94 or 100 degrees F approximately. I forget exact cutoff temp.

Candy cs455m programe stops at about 3oclock on the dial

Yes heatr should be submerged in the water. Not expose to free air.Check the water level float switch or the pressure switch.

The replace timer should be identical in design. If there is a mismatch it will not function as designed.

If it is elctronic micro controller type the same part no and soft ware version should be used.

Need a manual for drayton tempus 3 heating control

I've ended up with a Drayton Tempus 3 when I bought my house, and I think this is how it works. It allows you to set 2 Timers (I'll call them timer 1 and timer 2) so that you can control Hot Water or Heating On/Off times twice a day. The unit has 6 buttons - 2 for Adjustment, 2 for Hot Water and 2 for Heating. The 2 Adjustment buttons allow you adjust the Clock Time, or allow you to adjust Timer 1 and/or Timer 2. NOTE: Timer 1 is the time refered to on the Heating / Hot Water Select buttons if you press "Once". If you select "Twice" on these the both Timer 1 and Timer 2 are taken into account. For example if you want Hot Water to come on Once between 8pm -10pm, but you want Heating to come on Twice between 6am - 7am, and 8pm -10pm, you have to do the following: Set Timer 1 to 8pm - 10pm, and set Timer 2 to 6am -7pm. Then select Once for Hot Water, and select Twice for Heating. Hope this helps.

Dishwasher not completing cycles

Is the water being heated??? When the timer reaches the stage where it will not move forward any further, after 5 minutes or so, open the door & see if the water is heating up. The timer often waits for the water to reach the correct temperature. Temp is measured by the thermostat. If the element tests OK, then it could be the relay that switches the element. The relay is turned on & off by the timer. I would say that if the timer is OK & the element has the correct resistance, then it is is more likely to be the relay. Last resort would be the thermostat, but my money is on the relay.
