Question about LG Flatron 775FT 17" CRT Monitor
Monitor of LG My PC remains very dark for about 10-15 minutes after switch-on,then gradually clears.I lodged complain through the toll free number given in the cahmemo. One service-provider attended me but couldnot solve the problem. My phone no.-9434239882.Will you send an expert?
I assume that 'clears' means brightens?
The cathode heater is often supplied with a filtered DC voltage of 6-12 volts.
Often, there is a capacitor on a board plugged directly on the base of the CRT and if this fails, its capacitance becomes unstable and insufficient to adequately filter the voltage and supply clean DC.
In some monitors, the capacitor may be on the main board instead of the base of the CRT.
A technician should locate (not difficult) the CRT heater pins if not marked, and determine where the filter capacitor is located, measure it for capacitance and replace it if needed.
The value is normally many times what is required to clean up the DC but this type of part can (and will) break down chemically and its value will shrink to a very small value while its losses climb.
Eventually, this results in the effect you describe.
