Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

Hello: I have a HP Office jet 7210xi all in one printer fax machine. The auto feeder will not recognize there is paper ready to feed, thus it will not feed down into the scanner. Is there a sensor that I can replace? I have read the book and taken it apart and cleaned it the recommended way. Have not broke anything yet. Can you help? Tony C.

    I have fiddeled with everything I can fiddle with. I even tried sticking a screwdriver in it and faxed with everything open and hand fed the fax. It worked once. I need an answer that is more technical.

Some vertical feed printers have an handle to open the feed tray so new paper drops all the way in. This is normally on the right hand side and is called the paper release handle.

If you have opened that and teh paper drops all the way down and it still will not feed, have you placed the paper release back in the lock position?

Is the printer running the self diagnostic startup routine in a manner that includes the print head tray moving across the carrier bar?

There is a LED in some machines, but normally there is a little switch and lever to it that alerts the printer when the paper is out and paper is in. Check to see if anything is blocking the function of this switch.

Other than the above, diagnosing over the net with email responses will not get you very far. I would go through the hassle to call HP and speak with someone there and should it come to it they can get a replacement to you. They usually send you a shipping label to be picked up and returned via UPS.

Follow these steps to check the condition of the printer and the paper and to resolve the paper feed issue.

  1. Make sure there is paper loaded in the tray. Fan the paper before loading.
  2. Look for paper jammed in the printer.
  3. Adjust the paper guides to the correct markings in the tray for the paper size you are loading. The guides should be snug, but not tight, against the stack.
  4. Make sure the printer supports the paper in use.
  5. Make sure there is only one type of paper in each tray.
  6. Make sure the tray is inserted correctly.
  7. Uncurl any curled paper by bending it in the direction opposite the curl.
  8. When using thin special paper, completely fill the tray (the printer picks up some paper more easily when the tray is full). If you have a small quantity of the special paper, place other paper of the same size under the special paper to fill the tray.
  9. When using thick special paper (such as brochure paper), load paper from 25% to 75% of the tray's capacity. If you have a small quantity of the special paper, place other paper of the same size under the special paper so the stack height is within this range.

    Also please clean the rollers once.If it does not correct the problem then the only solution will be to get the rollers service or replace it with a new one.

HPJ4680 says it has a paper jam. Opened all access doors, found no paper jam. Will even pick up a sheet of paper, feed it through the machine but then shows the same paper jam error message.

If you are facing this error their may be small bit paper jam in side
There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor and saying you paper jam.

To solve it
Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder

If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then
Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.

After it if still you have error then it is probably that your Canon printer is in need of servicing by a service professional.
So go to the Canon Service Center. If you want to get support on Call then

Help-the paper feeder does feed the paper so the amounts print on top of each other.

If the document feeder is not feeding paper properly, the first thing I would suspect is the feed rollers ( 2 or 3 in total,) as they have the tendency to become dirty and worn. My suggestion would be to open the document feeder, take a clean rag and some general cleaner (no solvent,) and wipe down each roller as best you can. This will act to remove any trapped dirt or debris in the feed roller traction marks, and thus give you a more reliable document feeder. However, if this fails to alleviate the issue and the rollers appear worn, replacing them would be your next step.

I would suggest as a good source for printer, copier, and fax supplies.

Whenever I try to print something I keep getting

It's a possible hardware issue in the feeding mechanism. Try to remove the cartridges from the printer then close the cover. Remove the sheets of paper. Unplug the printer from the power source. Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging back the printer to the power source. When the printer's ready, reload the cartridges. Load some paper but don't overload as this may send wrong information to the printer. Have the paper guides lightly touch the sides of the paper, thus avoiding shifting of paper when it feeds. Let it print an alignment page and do some test prints from computer. If problem persists, I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support to further investigate the problem. Thanks.

Feeder tray does not feed during fax

Hp help
Automatic Document Feed (ADF) does not pick up paper. Follow each step, problem seems to be in pick assembly. Prcess took less than 5 minutes with a successful outcome.

HP office jet feeder won't work when trying to fax

the little pieces of plastic are the sensor flags which is why it will not feed, those are required to let the machine know that the paper is present in the feeder. No flag no feed. Look at the plastic thing try to figure out where it goes in the feeder if you look close, you will see a spot where they go.

Top ADF will not recognize paper in the feed tray.

Try to replace the 'paper is present' sensor with the 'cover open' one to see if now it is detecting the paper. Also, check the actuator that enter in that sensor.

Paper jam in the automatic document feeder

I have a Laser Jet 3050..when I try to load a oaoer to copy or fax, paper does not move...just gears moving but paper is not being pick up...any solutions?

chances are the feeder isnt feeding the paper at all, thats why you cant scan a single paper, try opening up the ADF and clean the feed rollers first, turn off the machine and gently rub the rollers again and again until you have a clean shot or surface, try this from thop to bottom rollers, please make sure though to insert uncreased paper and paper without eardogs on its leading edge, this could cause some delay upon feeding process

sometimes because it is exposed to dust, there is a tendency for the rolllers to slip, or you could be having a broken part that drives the feed rollers from your ADF.
