It's a bad driver, try search on Google to find drivers and then if the drive doesnt work as far as a cd drive, then find drivers for that certain model also from google, also..your laptop company might have some for you to download.

Toshiba Satelite A150-S4184,Hasent been used much,It was verry fast, now have internet again and loads very slow and takes long time to load pages,I think auto downloads instales windows 7,What can I

How much memory do you have in your Toshiba Satelite laptop?
Windows XP with Service Pack 3 needs a minimum of 1GB but ideally would run better with 2GB.

Windows 7 would need the same but there is no auto-update process to go from XP to 7 as this is not allowed - you would have to do a Custom install of Windows 7 which requires a clean install (i.e. format the hard drive and start from scratch).

If you are running XP with less than 1GB memory, then you need to check what the maximum memory that the laptop can be upgraded to?

The easiest method is to use the Crucial Memory web site System Scanner utility which will detect how much memory is installed and advise how much you can upgrade to according to the options available for the specific make & model of laptop.

If the laptop hasn't been turned on or on-line for a long time then you may be using a lot of resources downloading Microsoft critical updates plus updates for other installed programs like iTunes, QuickTime, Java etc.

Try downloading and installing a copy of the free Advanced System Care 5 utility then running the Deep Care tools which include System Optimisation and clean-up utilities to improve system performance.

Extremely slow boot, am using wireless internet, windows xp...when i click on ie or mozilla, the page infers its done loading but all there is is the toolbar at the top and bottom...no pages are coming up....

what you can do to speed up IE is:-
How to increase the speed of the internet explorer in windows Xp service pack 2 & Vista..
In Registry....
Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER>>>
>Software >Microsoft >Windows > Current version >Internet Settings
Click on Internet Settings...
Right click on the right pane> Click on DWORD
Rename it MaxConnectionsPerServer> Right on it & put the value : Decimal>153; Hexadecimal>99
Again Right click on the right pane> Click on DWORD
Rename it MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server> Right on it & put the value : Decimal>153; Hexadecimal>99
Restart the Internet Explorer & check the boost in the internet..

Or
Download Hijackthi from pctuneup.pctuneup.googlepages and install it
Run a scan by saving a log file
Once the Log file is open in a text document copy the entire information and open hijacthis.de
there would be a a analyzy space provided paste the matter there and analyze
You will get the result for the search , check all the red X marked nad find them in the hijackthis tool and fix them.
Your IE should be working fine

Slow boot time for Windows XP Pro

You can do that by using "MSCONFIG"

Click 'start' then goto 'run' and type 'msconfig' then click 'Ok'

That will open the Microsoft System Configuration Utility. You can then disable the unnecessary services and apps

My laptop freezes after start up. I start the computer and it runs normal until right after log in. I have roughly 30 seconds to 1 minute after logging in before the fan turns on and the laptop starts...

when was the last time your computer worked fine? run system restore and choose a restore point prior to when the issue started. if no restore point is available, open run and enter 'msconfig', go to startup and disable unecessary startup programs. also open the prefetch folder and delete its contents. then restart your system. if it's still slow, i suggest you backup your files and reinstall windows. make sure that you operate the laptop on a flat surface to avoid any ventilation blockage. hope it'll help. good day. =)'

I have a acer aspire 5515 and all of a sudden it is running very poorly and slow

I am assuming that you are running windows on this machine.

The problem could be spam ware or registry errors. I would try these steps and see if it helps to speed it back up.

First Back up your data!

Next check your antivirus software to make sure it is updated and scan the machine completely.

I would then try downloading some spam ware remover software from Adaware or spybot. A lot of times when I have computers that are running slow at work scan them and find a lot of hidden spam ware that accumulates from the internet Removing this spam ware will make it run faster.

I would also recommend, after running the spam ware removal software, and anti virus software, running CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ it is free and will scan your registry for errors due to installations and installations that have taken place over the years.

Also you may need to run the defragmenter from CCleaners web site as well. I find it works better than the included one in windows.

I you do this and it does not help you can try backing up your data and reinstalling windows from your recovery disks. If you do a fresh install and it is still slow you will have to look at sending in your laptop for repair.

I hope these steps help.

Keeps wanting to load fax & photo gallery when I log in

Things like to plant themselves in your start-up in windows. It is getting more obscene with software as the years go on.  Both XP and Vista have similar fixes for slow start-ups.  (In XP) Go to Start-->Run a box will pop up to type in a command, *In Vista, you can type "run" in the search box at the start menu* Type "msconfig" and a system configuration utility will pop up.  Click the tab that says "start-up" and un-check the software for your photo gallery and fax software.  *and any other non-needed programs for starting up your computer
