SOURCE: I have a Panasonic SA-PT960

There is a fault with the DVD Changer and the noise is the gears grinding. This is a common fault with these units as a small arm within the unit breaks and blocks the mechanism.

You can either try and replace the complete DVD Changer or remove it and just us it as a surround sound system with your auxiliaries connected to it.

SOURCE: panasonic Home T, sa-pt760, message LOCKED

While the unit is on, press and hold the play button and the power button, display should say unlocked. If this doesn't work, try it using the stop button and power button.

SOURCE: CHANGER ERROR ON MY PANASONIC PT960 LOUD GRINDING

I am willing to bet you had the same problem as I did. I am guessing it's way past it's warranty time frame and this model has since been discontinued by Panasonic. So I figured I'd take it apart and see what was up for giggles. What I did find was a little black arm like piece of plastic. I took out the entire dvd player portion and left it out and put the rest back together. I can use the surround sound now, and that's what matters the most, I can use my PS3 for the dvd/blue ray stuff. It was easy to take apart and separate the connections. good luck.

DVD changer is jammed on my Panasonic Sa-pt770 Receiver

if you have 2 tiny screw drivers, if not, the tips of a butter knife might be skinny enough, you can try to insert them a wee bit into both sides of the tray and pry outward, carefully of course, and unjam the tray

I have a panasonic sa-pt760 receiver. I get a chgr error when I power it up and the disk changer makes a grinding sound. Nothing else will work. I totally removed the disk changer and still get the same...

When this unit powers up, it goes through a "startup sequence" that results in the mechanism being in a known state. The error message indicates that this sequence did not complete correctly. The typical "fix" for this is a mechanism rebuild. It is common for a gear or two to get out of time with each other and cause this message. The rebuild process is not a simple one and should not be attempted without the service manual and some experience. It is rare for parts to be required for this fix.

Please seek professional assistance for this repair.

Sa-pt760 get chnger error, disc tray does come out and just makes noise. I have tried unplugging, also hold power button and number 10 on remote.

There is a mechanical problem with the changer. This is a relatively common failure that requires a "rebuild" and may also require a gear or two. The typical parts cost for this repair is under $20 and if I remember correctly, there is also an engineering change/modification that should be applied to this as well to prevent this from ocurring again. Since the rebuild requires a specific build order and alignment, this is NOT a DYI repair (unfortunately). Your best bet is to locate an authorized Panasonic service center for this repair.

I have the same problem error 4 in my lexus rx330 please help me

I just left the Lexus dealership w/ my ES 330 (my changer reads "Error 3" upon starting my car, it also makes a loud ticking noise); go figure, the mechanic/technician there informed me that I need another motor for my disk changer - Merry Christmas and hello $675!

After turning your car off for about an hour or so, the cd player is supposed to reset itself enabling you to retrieve your cd's. Attribute this to having utilized burned cd's.

Sc-pt760 "chgr err"

For panasonic sc-pt760, if the DVD player is busted, you can't access the option to switch to Digital in. With Digital in, you can still use the unit as a sound system by feeding it through the optical input from your TV.

but, the trick, You can't access the switch menu without an ipod. For some reason, you can switch from an Ipod to your D-in. You can't switch out of AM/FM to d-in as it tries to access the broken DVD first.
