Extended monitor resolution issues with gma 950 inspiron 6400 e1505

Recently i bought a 2405fpw monitor to extend my workspace with my laptop which is dell inspiron 6400 e1505 with integrated graphics controller it is intel mobile 945gm chip set family with GMA 950 Driver. i am running on windows xp professional. my laptop only has VGA port. so connecting it with 2405fpw monitor.

the problem i am facing is that i could not able to get my external monitors to its native resolution 1920x1200 i am just getting 1280x768. windows xp display/setting some time shows maximum resolution as 1920x1200 but it quickly changes to 1280x768 as maximum resolution. but i could able to see 1280x768 resolution in the external monitor. some times external monitor goes to 1920x1200 resolution with pan mode (screen scroll automatically when mouse pointer reaches the edges)

intel 945gm datasheet shows that it can handle more than 1920x1200 resolution but i could not able to make it out. i tried everything idea i could get from forums/googling...i have updated BIOS/Graphics Drivers. even tried intel embedded graphics driver sdk...

have tried literally everything i am totally freaked out, any help would be highly appreciated...

I've ran into similar problems with monitors before. Turns out that some monitors need their own driver installed in order to work with the video card, and, ?guess what?, they don't come with them. I usually find them at the manufacturer's site or driverguide.com Hope this helps, if not get back to me with the make and model and I'll do some research.

Using an external monitor with 1920x1080 resolution in my laptop

Well IF the Drivers support it then YES you can. Simply, make sure that the setup, is dual monitor, with extended desktop, active. Now, go into properties, and click, on the external screen, IF you can set this resolution, to what you wish, you will be able to do so. Both Monitors Do NOT have to be the same, usually, a laptop['s screen, resolution, isn't that large, but certain, screens and drivers, can support this. Ensure you have the most up-to-date Video drivers, for your Card.

Laptop to TV Connection

Check if you are sending the signal to the external monitor. On my laptop with Windows 7, I can right click on an open section of the desktop and choose Graphics Properties. In this window, I can choose to send the display to the laptop's internal monitor, the external monitor or both.
Pressing Crtl-Alt-F1 will force the video onto the external monitor on the fly (Crtl-Alt-F3 goes back to the laptop's screen).

When I have added a second monitor to a desktop, I needed to reboot and allow new hardware to be found before the related Screen Resolution (right click on the desktop again) let me find the second monitor and choose if this was a duplicate or extended screen.

I hope this helps.

If a new DELL ac adapter (3rd party Adapters are not recognized and the charging circuit is disabled) and a new battery doesn't resolve then the charging circuit on the motherboard is bad

DELL LAPTOP INSPIRON 6400 MY LAPTOP BATTERY IS SHOWING STATUS ( UNKNOWN ) ON WINDOWS & ON BIOS IT SAYSS BATTERY NOT INSTALLED

Here are my recommendations for this issue:

1. Reseat the battery.
2. Remove All External Components
3. Check the battery connectors on the battery and the system. Examine the connector on the battery and the system. Make sure that there is no physical damage and that it is clear of debris.
4. Remove All External Components
5. Try a known-good battery in the system, if available.

I can watch movies both online and 'offline'. DVDs, mpeg, avi, and wmv format and more.

I think you have some problems with your media player or codec.

Are you using xp or vista?
