My computer has a slot for this media. After I downloaded my photos to my computer I put the card back in the camera. It comes up with a flashing F and gives me the choice to Format or Power off. When I choose the Format it says Card Error and then wont do anything at all. Any suggestions?

Hey abbers,
What is most likely going on is your computer formatted the card to it, and the card needs to be formatted to work in the camera. What you should do is choose to format the card when you get the message "power off or format". Directions on how to format the card are on page 143 of your camera manual and I have included a link to a PDF download of your camera manual in case you no longer have yours. I hope this helps!

All you have to do is connect the card reader to the computer than put the card in the reader and format the card. Now it works fine in the camera

When putting a new memory card in, it tells me it needs formatting. When I push the formatting button it goes through the process and when finished it still tells me it needs formatting!

Hello, Did you try a different memory card ? could be you have one that is defective, This is not uncommon, they are mass produced like everything else and faulty ones are out there. Just try another card to see if the camera is working properly.

I have had my camera for 3 years but never had bought a memory card for it. I recently purchased one from Walmart. When i put the memory card in the digital display almost gets stuck and won't open so...

The camera takes SD cards up to 2GB (not SDHC cards). If you've been taking pictures using the camera's internal memory, you must first get rid of those pics. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions. Then, insert your new card and go through the "format" routine again to prepare the new card.

Virus on sd card

If your pc tells you the sd card is infected it means you have an AntiVirus running. You can use it to remove the virus by SCANNING the card.

You can also get rid of the virus by FORMATTING the card using the camera. The Format option (NOT EARASE) is usualy found in the settings menu. But beware, you will lose all the pictures as well.

Hi,

You can perform a master reset of the phone to get rid of the virus. Make sure you back up everything since this wipes out everything. Here is the code for the reset:

Memory card

Make sure you have saved everything you want from the card on your PC, then format the card (FAT 32) with the card in the card-reader.

Then put the card back in the camera.

Can't guarantee this will work, but it's worth a try.

'card not initialized'

try re-formatting the card in the camera. Turn the power on. Wait for the green light. Go to menu/set-up/format and say "yes" to format option. That's the usual fix.

My stuff

Do you have a card reader in your pc that you can put the card in?  And of course the adapter to convert microsd to sd card size?  If so then just put the card in pc, right click on the icon when it appears in your "My Computer" folder, left click "format" and format the card there.  It's possible that the data on the card got corrupted somehow and maybe why the phone is having trouble reading or reformatting it.  If the card still doesn't seem to work after putting songs or pictures on it, try using the card in a compatible mp3 player or a friend's phone with a microsd card to see if the card works, if it does then the problem is probably with your phone.  I have heard about compatibility problems with some phones and certain brands of microsd cards, not sure if this is one of them.  Hope this helps.
